It didn't work when I first tried.I am glad I had another look, felt great to me. I didn't realise you were a fellow halter rider. I was up on the hill looking at the cattle today on Smokey. The neighbours think I can't afford a bit!
Isn,t her mane shiny? |

She is a my wee star. I sometimes can't believe I'm riding her and I did it all myself (not saying that in a boastful way) Sorry to start such a 'who cares' thread and video but I'm thinking that it might help to keep me motivated, if i make the promise to myself public! Anyone else been struggling with their brain telling them not to bother riding?
Not sure how her mane is so shiny and never noticed it either tbh, til pointed out. There's nothing on it and she's not had it washed since last summer
Quarabian, yes always rode in a parelli halter. Polka is uber light and responsive I'm sure she'll never need any more than the rope halter.
It's Po's turn tomorrow night for her walk and already I want to go out on polka again! Surely a good sign.

Fab!! Keep it up Fee, I love hearing about you & your girls exploits We were back in the saddle after a couple of weeks off due to a 'dirty tackle' in the field I know what you mean about needing a little motivation at times, I'm the same. I find giving my head a wobble often helps!! |

Well done Fiona!! You and I have been in the same situation for a while......a serious lack of motivation!! I've also found my get up and go and it's a great feeling to be enjoying riding again.
It's good that you will have someone to ride with as that will keep you going. There will be no stopping you now!
Polka is such a lovely horse and I am sure it won't be long till the two of you are out together competatively enjoying the miles. |

I'd love to ride out with you and Polka. I still have two more youngsters to get started. they have been sat on and are responding nicely in the halter, but I don't like going out on my own all the time, plus youngsters sometimes need a little equine reassurance.
I am so glad you are enjoying your riding now. Baby steps now, red dragon before long. (Is that what they call the welsh endurance ride?) Anyway, it is just down the road from me. Come and stay when you do it Fee. |

So lovely, those little pointed ears,a lady who had started riding again after many years once told me she had so missed not seeing the world between a horse's ears, how true... love how she stares at the poodle,"mummy is that me?woah,I'm pretty!" keep posting your hacks,no problem for me! |

I'm one happy
Just had a fantastic hack on Polka, loads of trotting and at one point she gave me a step of canter. Looking forward to cantering her One step at a time though, just want to have fun getting her further educated.

That was a lovely ride, so thanks Polka with the shiny mane.
Look forward to you doing your first endurance ride and hearing all about it, just remember one thing in endurance plans are bad, so just pretend you're not making plans
Well done! |

Fantastic ride again, I can't wait until Beau is backed. I long reined him yesterday in full tack in a very high wind - he was as good as gold. We then did some stuff in the yard with a 12ft lead, he has learnt to stay until I call him to me and also shake hands, he is a very quick learner. He is six now and should have been backed last year but I broke my leg (showing off on the trampoline, I'd forgotten that even though I was in a team it was OMG!!! 30 years ago) So though I have backed many horses and love working with them I'm a bit unsure about riding a youngster!!! I shouldn't be as Beau is a complete darling and does everything asked of him, never ever complains, I guess it's just me. I will get some photos soon and post them (hopefully with me on him) sorry to go on, and thanks again for the continued inspiration. Alison |
