My poor little Shesky is lame again and very sore after only being back in work 3 weeks.... I had completed my 2 weeks of walking (with the odd buckaroo, but very calm for Shesky - he is trying to contain himself, bless him) and just started a little bit of trot but he wasn't right, so I called the vet who came yesterday to re-scan his Palmar Annular Ligament...
It is worse than before! And my vet has never seen an injury like it before as unusually (Shesky like to be different) he has injured the ligament itself - PALs problems are normally degenerative where the ligament gets thicker and then constricts the tendons, so they snip it, like us having the Carpal Tunnel Op.
The good news (if there is any) is that there is a specialist at Liphook (well he's seen a grand total of 10 cases like this) and he is currently conducting a study and quite excited to be seeing Shesky by all accounts... so he's going to see him on Thursday for a 2hr clinic and then he will decide if he's going to operate or medicate... feel so sorry for the poor little mite! He was soo enjoying getting out and about again!
Please everyone keep everything crossed that the surgeon can fix him and he doesn't have to stay there too long as he will be very frightened!
Sarah xxx

Thanks everyone! Got him a new pair of magnetic boots,a new rug, headcollar and leadrope to take and going to give his mane, tail and legs a wash - can't have him going all scruffy! (i'm not completely mad - they do actually ask you to wash them before they go to lessen the risk of infection)... he does love going on adventures and i'm sure he'll love having new friends to pull his snake face at and practice his twisty neck, so hoping he won't be too scared! |

We're yet to complete a season - last year he got one thing after the other and we only managed a handful of shows... never have really got started together Soo fed up! I just don't get it! I spend every waking moment worrying about him, making sure the field is perfect, his stable is perfect (yes he even manages to injure himself in there), he is having the best hay, feed, regular vet, physio, the best trainers.... had horses my whole life and never had problems like this! He is special, that is for sure!!! |

Sorry to hear your bad news but I am sure he will be fine at the vets; it will smell "horsey" so he will settle soon. Taz paced a lot during the night at the vets; the on call vet's bedroom is above the large stable he was in so he kept her awake!
Healing vibes going his way.

Sarah, as the privileged owner of another 'special' boy I can understand what you are going through.
At Liphook he will be in the very best hands - I know this because they are my vets!! Dennis is will known to them
Who is the specialist? |
