Shahir Neesaan (Bertie) is rising 4, & 14 yr old Michelles horse and he is the love of her life. I think her love for him shines thru' on this video she has made. Chelle has done ALL the work with backing him (no-one else has even sat on him yet)
Below are Michelles words:
I thought i would put together in a video instead of words, what has been my main priority towards the end of last year and beginning of this. When we bought Bertie (Shahir Neesaan) in 2007 I was origionally looking for something that had been there and done it but, bertie had the twinkle in his eye every young girl looks for. Cheeky, Cute and just an all round ball of fun. In 2009 when some scumbag went into the field and hacked off his entire mane and tail i wondered weather his temprement around people would change. That he would loose all trust he had in me and my family. But he didnt, he was a little hesitant at first but after a week or so he was back to normal. Well.. when i say normal, he still had no mane and tail. To some people he may of looked ugly, but its not what a horse looks like.. Its how they bond with you and their characteristics. Last year around June/July we started breaking him in. Having not broken a horse in before i didnt no what to expect.. To be completely honest i thought he would be a handful with him having such a cheeky character i thought he would keep loosing focus. We schooled him in the arena at first then when i felt ready we went out into the open field accompanied by another horse. When the horses when in for the winter me and mum decided to hack out quite regular just up the dis-used railway line to get him used to seeing different things. This week we took him out hunting for the first time.. He was a star. I couldn't of asked for a better day out of him. He was very on his toes at first when all the hounds were running about but once he got used to them he was totally fine. After that amazing day im am looking forward to the next Hunt Meet.'
