I had TOP (Pesniar x Trapecia) born at Tersk on 31.12 1978.
Twice European Senior Male Champion.
He died peacefully in spring this year. A lovely kind and gentle horse with a hugh trot.

Wow,Vodolej, what a stunning horse!I love the fact that he needed two handlers taking turns to show him,and boy did he make them run!
Nice to see a horse enjoying his job too,you can see the difference,I saw only one minor shank to regain control.

What lovely memories of my favourite two horses, Top and Vodolej. A super pic of Top too. My very first Arab was "Arax el Habeeb" by Arax ex Putchina. I think he may have been Tersk bred. He was a fantastic riding horse and showjumper and it was because of him that I got "hooked" on Arabs. I also have G.Forgetmenot by Top ex For the Moment by Moment. She is now with Alan and Gina and it is hoped to put her to Sambist next year. Although I was mainly known for breeding Crabbets - I also bred Russians when I could. Some really strong powerfull horses came out of the Tersk Stud and left their mark here in UK.

Hi DeMonpelou and to AL, Jefta de Monpelou was a beautiful horse, how tragic to lose him at such an early age.

Hi CINDERS

I have read you have Derjava.
Do you have photos and is she still alive?
Derjava is the dam of Duval
Duval's sire is Vympel

About Duval:
Born 8-6-1990
Bred by "Tersk Stud", Russia.
Exported to "The Kossack Stud" in the Netherlands in 1990
at the age of 3 weeks, together with his mother Derjava.
"De Monpelou" bought Duval in 1992.
Chiefsire at "De Monpelou" from 1994 until 2003.
Charlotte Davidsen from "Davidson Arabians", Denmark, bought Duval in november 2008
and Duval arrived there in March 2009.
Now he is chiefsire at "Davidson Arabians" in Denmark.

Hi Fee,

Tersk is still part owned by the State, but is now a joint stock company.

I am not sure if the definition of a 'straight Russian' requires the animal to be born in Russia at Tersk. My understanding from the few breeders I have come into contact with are of the view that so long as the sire and dam were bred at tersk, or bred from tersk bred parents, they themselves are straight Russian. This seems to be the accepted view on other 'strains' such as Crabbet, Egyptian and Spanish?

The breeding programme appears to be, according to their web site,

Priboy (via Nitagor and Marcipan), Amurat (via Balaton’s, Pobeditel’s, Ekibastus’s and Ensemble’s sons), Korea (via Madyar, Monomah, Angleter, Alchemist) Mansur (via Sirdar), Danuste (via Nonius and Newmarket). Balaton’s, Pilgrim’s, Naftalin’s, Parusnik’s, Mukomol’s and Drug’s daughters play the key part.

They have introduced outside blood in the past, Egyptian Aswan, a gift, Spanish Esplendor, purchased, along with breeding to French blood (Newmarket has Cheri Bibi blood, sire of Bengali D'albret), WH Justice (Banderos and Nizami), and Sirdar who appears to be a mix of Egyptian, Crabbet, El Shaklan and Polish, maybe more...

But don't you just love Russians, I know I do!

Here they are

Here is a photo of the Top son I had, Flaxman's Gorby, he was out of the lovely mare Begonia (Moment x Margaritka) I bought him in Holland as a just turned yearling in 1988 and sold him to Germany as a 6yo after having a good number of lovely foals by him(Pop on here has one of his daughters GAS Matylka) many of his foals did very well racing.

Yes, I do indeed have the awesome Gas Matylka, or rather, she has me.

Her grace, beauty and ability to move effortlessly without touching the ground is amazing. As is her sense of humour. I love her unreservedly.
