As we're all showing and over our Russians, Crabbets, Spanish, Egyptian, Polish etc. Can you please post a pic and details of any purebred you have or had that was bred at Tersk.
Must have been born out there and how/when did you acquire them? Po has a rather sad story I think of Russia to UK but I think without that 'grit' they seem to have she'd not have made it. Don't they have a reputation for having that extra 'toughness'?
Would love to see your Tersk arab and story if you have one. Also any details of the future of the Russian breeding programme if anyone has anything would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had a lovely mare on loan from Cotswolds Arabians called Kasan, she was bred and came from Tersk Stud. She has a fabulous temperament and huge trot I was very lucky indeed to get a filly from her by AJA Armani, so is my filly half Russian? |

Hi, yes I knew about Jude's as they're related to mine and I think Plumbum the stallion based in the UK was bred at Tersk? I just thought there would be lots of them?
As far as I'm aware (and sorry I asked this question lots of times to know for sure what equated a 'straight' Russian) It is (I believe) that both parents have been bred and born at Tersk, with Tersk no longer are we looking at the gradual demise of the straight Russian?

Hi Fee Yes Plumbum is Russian and bred at Tersk but I am not good at putting photos on here he is Balaton X Pantomima. He is a very special boy and has a wonderful temperament. |

Yes, I always remember him, lovely boy. How is his dressage coming along? He's still there in my mind if I can one day breed from Po and want a 'straight' Russian, which is very tempting. Don't they just have the BEST temperaments and movement of course!

Fee I don't know where you got the information that Tersk is no more. It is not "State" owned anymore but owned by two very wealthy people and still breeding horses. There is a site on facebook which shows photographs of various horses. |

Here is the Tersk bred stallion I had some years ago, he's called Pepel was by Peleng (Nabeg x Palmira) ex Poprigunia(Pomeranets x Panel)and he was full brother to the better known Div. He was 'old Russian' breeding with no Aswan blood.
sorry not great photos-I did have some wonderful 'vanLent' ones but don't know whats happened to them :-( Going down to start at Larkhill with Wendy Parkin
With me at home, he had a wonderful temperament and was bombproof :-)
at home doing his russian trot!

Wow Kerry what a pedigree Pepel has! And what a stunner he is.
Where is he now? Did you use him much in your breeding?

They are not the best photos of Pepel Fee. Afraid he is no longer with us, I sold him to a friend for endurance, she had him gelded. Sadly he only had 2 foals, a colt out of Manushka, GAS Malin, who I would love to know how he grew up and a filly GAS Pepelka out of Pameshka bint Pamir(also old Russian), Pepelka is now with Anne Brown and had a huge filly by Sambist last year so the line carries on. I did cover my Prononce/Manushka daughter, GA Maschenka, too but tradegy struck that winter and I lost her infoal from samonella, truly horredous :-( |

That's so sad you lost your mare
Does Anne Brown come on here? Would love to see a picture of her GAS Pepelka x Sambist filly! So pleased to hear the lines carry on through her and that Anne kept it very Russian with choosing Sambist Where is Sambist based?
Fee
PS Sorry for all the questions But when it comes to everything I love about the Russian breeding in the UK I think of all the GAS horses I've seen, they are simply

I do have Derjava (Aswan x Polinezia) and also Mirabella (Balaton x Malinka).
Derjava is dadly now retired from breeding but Mirabella will be covered by our own bred straight russian Djericho (Kais x Derjava) and we also have Derjava's daughter Djuno by Narim whi we hope will be inseminated by Kubinec as we purchased a breeding a while ago.
Donna - so thats where she went! Considered her as a potential wife for Colin at one time.

Fee, I'm sure there are pics of GAS Pepelka's filly in the New Arrivals section, I know Kerry did post a thread, she is gorgeous. Sambist is one of my favourite Russian boys, I got up close to him when I went to Umm Qarn when I got my Russian boy from there, he is awesome. I will never forget his liberty display with Jan Calis at Towerlands, the only time he has ever been shown. Magic .

Derjava did have a filly but Artist but sadly she passed away. She suddenly lost loads of weight and despite everything we did and all the tests had to be put to sleep, Our vet checked and she was riddled with lymphoma. I am pretty hopeless with a camera so no pics I'm afraid Derjava is very very special to us and we cannot thank Delyth enough for entrusting her to our care.

Whoops didn't see this thread earlier in the year - funnily enough because I was visiting the Tersk Stud!
I have owned Agonia (Gordon x Arina) bred at Tersk in 2000 for almost 6 years. She was imported by Caroline Reid of AV Arabians in 2003 in foal to Karat - the foal was later sold to Belgium.
Goni had her first season out under saddle with Emily Cooper this year... Here's some pics - sorry I love her to bits
