Hi,
Remember that post about the fleabitten grey arab mare I have, I was trying to find out which one of the jabask horses she was. Well I got intouch with Pegi her original breeder and she said she was Sophie Jabask and she was 15 years old (making her 18 this yr)Well she must be one of the older arabs and not Sophie Jabask as every vet and dentist who has seen her say she is 20 to 25 years old. Does anyone have the info on the jabask horses and which one she is more likely to be? pic of her to follow.

I think I have the info in a bundle and some in an old file, will have a look...

and the years go quickly by, could she be 20 now,( you've had her for 6 years and she was not young when you bought her) that would almosr fit in with what Peggy said to you.
and there is still plenty of the old postings in the Archives, if you go to the top and search JABASK and tick Archives they come up..
I thought you new everything there was to know about these horses that ended up sold...I was there the day of the sale at Malvern.
What happened to your black & white colt???? by Starlight.
I think she was one of the unregistered ones...This is what was said about Sophie:-
' a load to brightwell sales( I've still got the sale lists) and the rest went to eric jones, he sold them to mr savage ( well we know your mare came from Mr Savage & was in foal to his horse)). So my mare is definately sophie out of t c jabaskman and m c natalie as molly said sophie went with the 12 that went to anglesea, but molly says she was born in 1994!! and is definate about that!!

Looks like this is the same way that RoseGay went, I think it was the brother who sold her and he dis hang onto the paperwork, until the person who bought her offered him some more money, I wonder if the paperwork is still with the welch chap.. or Mr Savage.. why dont you speak to both.

On another note:
A Grey mare bred at Aberllwyd Stud by Mr & Mrs Rawnsley in Wales, and out of one of the USA Jabask bred mares,(with crosses to Serafix & Bask), has just won one the top prize for 2010 with Endurance GB.

have spoken to mr savage, he had a normal passport for her. I dont know what her brothers name is or how to contact him.

I think Justa Legend was sold at Malvern on 10th September 1998, possible to a Mr A Hingley ( well he ended up with her anyway) as she bred Barnshill Warrier in 2000. Barns is still about and races and does endurance, Gemma might tell you more.
This is not the one, Sold in 1998, covered in 1999, Barns born 2000.
Halona ??? bought two that had been with John Savage, she rang up the Nth Wales brother of Peggi. she will tell you and there is abit on this in the old Archive stuf, link I've posted already. 26 pages...

Ok, now things are more clear. I have just spoken to John Savage. He got all three mares from a dealer/farmer from Anglesea (whom he still sees at Beeston and is going to get his phone number for me). This man from Anglesea got them from a woman in Pwllheli who went to Saudi Arabia - John thinks the name Mrs Peggy Jones sounds correct. John then sold the mares (all three I think) to a man in Abergaveni (excuse the spelling), he was then contacted by the lady in Saudi saying she wanted them back - so he went and purchased them back from the man he sold them to, but John never received the cheque and he then sold them again (to me and Moldequine). In total he had them for about 12 months, how long they were in Anglesea or Abergaveni for I dont know. But yes all three have come from the same place which was originally Pwllheli. Does anyone know if the Arab horse society lists horses under owners, or is everything listed by Horses Name?
she goes on to say that maybe your mare is related to the two she has, and maybe she's the dam.
I think they have Secret Legand born.7.4.1997.(Secret Partner/Justa Legand).
I've said above that Justa Legand was sold to Mr Hingley and foaled with him in 2000 - Barnshill Warrier.
I dont know which is the OTHER one that Halona has,it might be:- Grey Filly ( Secret Partner/Jacici, poss born in 1997, would have been a yearling at Malvern then...( might be: Jabask Al Khora) maybe thats related to yours. although she does refer to hers as mare's.
AHS Stud book list in names and records the breeded.

See if you can find out anything from Halona Stud, she posts on here. and look at the registered mares about bron around the time that would fit for your mare's age, there a few Greys around 1990.
My notes say Jabask Sophie 1992(TC Jabaskman/MC Natalie)Not Reg.
Also need to try to confirm which 12 Mr Savage had, he sold some sooner, and the ones that went to abergaveny were there about 12 after the first lot.

Think its worth contacing helona stud again and asking what hey know.
I think she thought that your mare might have been the dam of one of there's.

Rozy Rider - you are absolutely right that Mr Hingley owned Just a Legend. She had Barnshill Warrior in 2000. She had another colt in 2003 called Barnshill Jester, a steel grey, and he is based in Bewdley. I've heard on the Grapevine that Just a Legend ended up in a rescue centre after Mr H sold her?

| ageing horses by there teeth is notoriously inaccurate once they have a full set of adult teeth. This was proven a few years ago, short of DNA testing her and comparing to any records on file of who the parents may be if they were DNA tested I would say the breeder probably has the best idea of iding your horse. |

| The dentist has aged Basky as a few years older than his papers even thought I know for a fact he is 21 (markings and import records etc). I wouldn't dismiss her being the horse Peg said just because of that. |
