I have given horses away for free, I would rather do that than sell them to dubious homes! , I gave Malika to Janet Curry, there was nothing wrong with her , and she is not old , but I know Janet and Paul will give her a good home for life , much more important than money . Ry Thomos as long as you vet the homes and make sure she goes to a good one thats all you need to do as you say its no one's business but your own.

I would give a horse to good home rather than sell it to a home I wasn't sure about. I have sold horses cheaply to people I know will give them a good home rather than get a bigger price from an unknown buyer.
I hopw Nebraska finds a lovely caring home; I am sure she is a lovely mare and will make some lucky person very happy.

I too have given arab horses away 'free' Sometimes even youngsters.
To be able to 'gift' a horse away to my mind say's you are purely interested in the horse itself rather than just the money. (Breath of fresh air nowadays)

I hope she ends up in a good place, she has fantastic breeding which can be seen in many of the current Russian greats. Would take her myself if I had my own yard and a spare box, just as a companion or to do some Veteran showing. Sure she will be up to it.

Roy,
Thank goodness you posted on here to shut up the busybodies. Now we can come on and agree it's better to give to a good home than sell to someone who can just offer a good price.
Just can't stand the flack that flies around when people judge without knowing either the people or the facts.
Well I, for one, will vouch for the love and attention your horses get and hope the right home comes along soon.
All the best to you and Sue.

Sadly there are always those who are willing to judge and condem without knowing the full facts.
Far better to give a horse to a good home than not be able to afford to keep it or look after it properly; not that this is the case for Nebraska, just making the point.

I have been giving an arab by a good friend before they knew ho much i loved her and she had a home for life was always well cared for till the end which broke my heart in more pieces than you would know , i also had another old mare bought for peanuts she had 3 wonderful years with me she was stunning and i would of shown her if it was not for a slight un soundness so its not how much you sell for that guarantees a good home its what you can offer and love is the best thing going , good job she is not near me or else i would be tempted oldies have so much to give |

Well! where do we start..we have just become the very proud and happy owners of Nebraska! We are very honoured to be allowed to bring this beautiful lady into our lives, she is very sweet and almost regal in her attitude. She is absolutely gorgeous, and we fell head over heels as soon as we met her, we are very grateful to Roy and Sue for their hospitality and for letting us bring her home where she will stay forever. Their horses are obviously adored, they are relaxed and happy and have lovely temperaments and I hope we have made new human friends too We plan to let Nebraska teach us a thing or two in showing and you will definitely be seeing her in the veteran classes this year, we just hope we can do her justice. Again we just want to say thank you for letting her come home with us |

A happy ending - fantastic news. May you all live happily ever after and we look forward to seeing her in the veteran class. If not, I am sure she will be just as happy at home being spoilt rotten.

Don't know about the Veterans in Llandeilo, lol, we will be doing in hand classes, we don't know if she has ever been ridden and if anyone has any info on this we would be grateful. We are looking forward to getting to know and enjoy her! |

Am really pleased she has gone to somebody who is going to take her out a bit in her twilight years, I was reminded at the weekend that we gave our gelding away, to be sure he went to a good home and somewhere where he will be loved by somebody with a bit more energy and devotion than we could commit to at the time. We are also very lucky as he is still on the same yard as us, so we see him a lot.
It is very hard to part with any horse, especially one like Nebraska.
I need somebody to take me out in my twilight years? |
