I have spent a bit of time looking into all the different joint supplements available as by old (ish) boy is starting to look and feel a little stiff. I seem to have come across a lot of people & articles from all over the world who swear by Turmeric. Being a natural herb i don't suppose it would do any harm to try, and the price is certainly appealing!
Is this something any of you have/would consider using?

Hi Emma,
I have been taking Turmeric tablets for over two years now. I was prescribed them by my consultant - he said they were great for reducing swellings and for joint pain etc etc.
I must say that since taking them my aches and pains are much reduced. How much you would give a horse - can't help you on that - but I take 3 tablets per day (obtained from a well known health shop)
I'm sure it would help your old boy but as with every product be careful of dosage.
Good luck. |

The majority i have read seem to feed 25ml scoop a day, some slightly less. May see if it is sold by any animal health shops that i could ring for advice...
Thank you Emma |

It would probably be cheaper if you bought from the Indian stores etc - you can buy it in bulk for cooking etc. Just checked my tabs - they are 400mg so I take 1200mg per day, but I'm on a high dose. My husband and daughter just take 400mg per day.
Can't do your boy any harm - so deffo worth a try. |

Have found 450g for £5.75 inc postage on ebay. Will also have a look in our cash and carry to compare. As its powder they dont give a strength but do state its non irridated and non GM. |

Sorry to go off topic.
Jude, is that amount prescribed by your consultant an amount anyone can take for swollen joints (me)! I have just discovered Turmeric and can only seem to buy tablets that are 500gm. Should I take two tablets per day?
I have yet to see a doc but my poor knees get very swollen and painful after my daily walks........just love getting old |
