Hello All.
I havent been on here for a long time, for one reason or another.
Many of you will know that last year I made the decision to send my much loved mare, Mila, away for a while, whilst I sorted out my finances. I was very lucky to have the help from good friends, and Milas breeders, Liz and Walter Downes, and Mila went to live back at Valentine Arabians.
It took me a good 3 months to clear my overdraft and any charges that I occurred. I then moved in with my boyfriend, and inorder to bring Mila home, Chris asked me to live with him rent free. I then used my spare money each month to buy all what I needed for Mila to come home. I got myself a new job on a higher wage, and had milas new stable and transport awaiting her home coming. 2 weeks before she was due home… I lose my job..!! Right, so I pick myself back up and get on the job hunt. After about 3 months, I get myself a job. I have now been in my new job for 2 months, but not on the same wage as before. Chris and I have also decided that this year, we would like to move into a house together (we are currently living in a caravan on a holiday/permanent camping site) I also have a large amount of money owing in debts…. Which I regret every day.
It was my plan to have a cushion of money ready for Mila to come home…. but taking all of my personal circumstances into account – I have come to realise that I just cannot afford her anymore. Therefore I have come to the heart breaking decision to sell Mila, and to find her a special new friend who will give her a home where she will be loved and cared for just as much as she would be with me.
Liz and Walter have been there for me the whole way through my ownership of Mila. They have given me priceless guidance and knowledge, and many a shoulder to cry on throughout my recent situation, I am so very grateful for their support and understanding. Liz and Walter are now in need of Milas stable as they are due a foal, and Milas stable is needed for the foal once he/she is weaned. I have plenty of time to find her a new home, and I cannot thank them enough for all they have done to help me.
I cant put into words how I am feeling…. Mila is my life and I love her dearly. I just hope she knows how much I love her and that I never intended for us to part.
Kim

I am so very sorry that it has come to this, but at least you have the courage to admit that you cannot afford to carry on. Nobody knows what is around the corner as far as employment is concerned, and financial problems can build up very quickly. I am sure you will find a lovely new home for her. Good luck. |

Hi Kim, you have certainly tried your best and must be commended on being a responsible owner. She looks a stunning mare and I'm sure who ever buys her will be very lucky. Full praise as you say must also go to Liz and Walter for being 'just great understanding people' well done. Alison |

I saw Mila last night on the sales pages and my heart sank, I know from your posts how hard it has been for you and I am really very sorry for you Kim. At least you are being realistic and responsible about this sad situation and have her best interests at heart. My very best wishes in finding a great home for your beloved mare. Lisa |

Thank you all for the support and comfort. I still feel like this is all a bad dream and I will wake up to find Mila in her old stable here in Leicester. It’s been such a whirl wind year. I know I have done all I can to make sure she is happy, I couldn’t have done anymore to try and bring her back. My focus now is to find her the best home that I can.
I will keep you updated.
Kim
