You may remember the "Argh" post last weekend , about the thin, sad bay gelding in Northern Ireland advertised on a very "non-Arabian" sales site, who was eventually identified by his dam's present owner and me, via the dealer spelling out the details of his passport as Aragon - Om el Mareikh x CAS Kazurai, and the little rush of madness that ended up with me buying him over the phone from the dealer who had either owned him a fortnight or a year, depending on who he talked to.
The saga continued by way of feuds between the dealer and vets, feuds between the dealer and transport firms, with bank trnsfers going astray and then turning up in the dealer's account, minus £7.40 of the amount transferred - no one knew why - plus monies transferred to the vet's private account and no vet cert forthcoming, to the transporter going AWOL for a week and no-one knowing if/when A would be shipped over, or by whom. This Sunday, I managed to get hold of the dealer who told me that he had taken A up to his transporter the previous day, and that he was now on that person's transport and being loaded onto the ferry as we spoke!! AAgh all over again! When I asked the dealer why he hadn't phoned me to tell me this he said" Ah well, I suppose I just forgot"!
I then couldnt contact the transporter via the drivers wife (called George, according to the dealer) whose number was the only one the dealer had! Many frantic texts and messages left on unanswered phones later, she phoned and said "where are you - near Bristol?" NOOO! Kent! Anyway - at 4.30pm Aragon walked down the lorry ramp into the yard as quiet and regal as you like - surveyed the scene, strolled over to the stables behind me and into his stable and began tucking into a very large haynet as if he had been there all his life!
He is very thin and doesn't appear to have much experience of being handled - puzzled at body, voice and hand cues, but cottons on with repetition in a very calm quiet way, and then is fine. He is very grubby and unkempt but is the most stunningly beautiful horse with enormous presence and graciously greeted everyone who came to marvel at him. He is very like his sire, especially his truly beautiful head; he seems all in one piece with a fabulous long stride, great length of rein and lovely clean legs and good feet.
I'm rather overwhelmed by him, to be honest; he is so unlike Ryazan, who is a short coupled, in your face, bouncy opinionated Crabbet chap, who would be wearing a medallion and a tattoo if he was a bloke. Aragon seems ethereal, regal and totally out of place in a little yard in the depths of the Kent countryside amid hunters and cobs. He definately is a palace sort of chap!Anyway, thanks for reading this ramble - I'll keep you posted on how I get on with His Highness!

Zooscat, a real find, as CAS Kazurai won everything going in ridden with Crispin. Mareikh seems to have bred on beautifully too - its just such a shame he was lost before his time.

But, the most important thing, as ever, that another horse (of any breed) has found a fantastic new home and especially in such difficult financial times. Really very best of luck with him and look forward to seeing some pictures of a now happy horse! x

Wow what a hair raising story, so happy for you and Aragon that it all turned out perfectly in the end.

You really must get some photos for us all to see, and then lots and lots of progress reports for us to read!

Sounds like you have found yourself a little diamond in the rough!
