Hi All, Just joined AL, having been really impressed by the community you have built here, and the passion you all have for this wonderful breed. Though I don't own my own arab, I am fortunate enough to be able share the lives of PJB's two Kasadi daughters and 3 month old grand-daughter (by Vert Olive) - as well as to have the opportunity to ride his wonderful morgans. In my short involvement with Arabs, they have proved to be spirited, affectionate and consistently kind - not to mention utterly beautiful.
I grew up in India, and gained an equine education riding Marwari horses. Since then I've ridden various breeds, in different parts of the world (the perks of a Naval career!) - and recently got the endurance bug riding PJB's morgans.
I look forward to learning from you, and sharing your passion.
Andrew

Good to see you here Andrew. If you've not met/spoken to him, you need to track down Chris Wray (he posts on here as Zawadi I think) as he competes in endurance on Morgans/part-bred Morgans. |

Hi and .
Would love to see some pictures of the Morgans and Marwari horses you rode. I just watched a programme on H & C channel about Marwari horses, they are stunning. What were they like to ride..? |

Hi Nichole - glad you enjoyed the prog about the marwari horses on H&C, had seen it trailed, and saw a snippet on youtube. From what I gather some of it was filmed at Pushkar fair, which is close to where I went to school! Though it was a long time ago, the marwaris I rode were alert, and pretty forward going. My fave was a lovely bay mare who was sharp as a tack, but also looked after me as a kid. I read an article in the EGB mag that a team from the UK had ridden them in an endurance race out there -made me jealous!
Mrs DJ - like the RN connection! Who's the young man with 3 Good Conduct Badges? can't quite make out his branch badge!

Ha!
Eldest son - also an Andrew!
Wakefield Sea Cadets. Wonderful organisation. He gained so many useful qualifications with them. He also raised the Royal Standard when the Queen came to Wakefield Cathedral. Took part in the last Tall Ships Race too! Became a PO Cadet, and is now a p/t officer. Had ambitions to join the Navy himself, which would have suited him perfectly, but, unfortunately, met a girl instead . Now doing a degree at Southampton (Yacht and Powercraft design, so still into the boats!!) Anyway - sorry to ramble! Proud Mum - can you tell? Enjoy AL!! |
