Hereford Saturday 21st August by Paul Simmons
Preview
1st race = Handicap 0-85 over 1 Mile 4 Furlongs: Karline looked pretty impressive when winning the Jebel Ali Gold Final last year over 10 furlongs and before that running Gazal to second over this trip at Market Rasen, he makes his seasonal debut and has a strong chance here. Quorman Des Vialettes comes from the in form Oman Stable and has won over this trip in the UK, he was 4th in the Group 1 Dubai Stakes where he was outclassed and this looks much more his level. Majaales looked impressive when winning over this trip at Huntingdon at the beginning of the month beating Balzan and has strong place claims.
2nd race = Handicap 0-70 Novice Rider race over 1 Mile 1 Furlong: Jaamahir impressively won the 7 furlong handicap on Dubai Day from Dakaran, he wasn’t disgraced when 5th behind Floren in the 0-75 Premier Handicap at Newbury; he can continue his progression with a win here. Pacific Way won over 2 miles here last month beating Des’Brie (Sakeena Sky Zayin and Floren both well beaten but have since won franking the form), she won over this trip last season and should be in the shake up. Whilst Floren won in fine style at Newbury over this trip last time out and could cause an upset.
3rd race = OPEN Handicap 0-180 over 1 Mile: Trouble Maker looked good when winning at this track over 9 furlongs, he looks like he’s progressing and can take this event, the form looks good with Mattoni (4th) and Mandy’s Maestro (6th) both winning since. Place claims go to Dancing Grace who was second that day and won over 8 furlongs at Wolverhampton (as well as 4 times last season) and remains in fine form. Whilst Global Achiever has been running well in defeat this season including when second to Yankey over this trip at Wolverhampton.
4th race = Handicap 0-60 over 7 Furlongs: The selection is Wikkara who has been in superb form this season winning twice over 9 furlongs at Wolverhampton (beat subsequent Dubai Day winner Jamaahir) and won at this track where he beat Star Valentina a head (form was franked when Golden Dream (6th) won at Huntingdon). Dangers come from Star Valentina again who deserves to win and keeps just being pipped to the post. Whilst Senor Dublcheck won well at Fakenham over 10 furlongs and was just touched off by Sakeena Sky Zayin over 9 furlongs at Huntingdon and is going the right way.
5th race = OPEN Handicap over 1 Mile 4 Furlongs: Once again Son of Sophie will take all the beating here, he has been in great heart this season winning at Wolverhampton over this trip from Yankey, he then followed up at Huntingdon over 1 Mile 6 furlongs (again beating Yankey) and looks sure to make it a hatrick here. Place claims once again go to Yankey who beat Global Achiever 4 lengths when winning over a mile at Wolverhampton. Whilst Sky Chart looked good when winning over 2 miles at Wolverhampton (beat subsequent winner Mattoni) and will stay every yard of this trip.
6th race = Conditions over 7 Furlongs: Laqataat ran well when winning her maiden over this trip at Fakenham (El Adjban was 3rd that day and has since won franking the form), she looked a little unlucky when hanging on Dubai Day in the mile handicap and finished a good second to stablemate Menwaal and can gain another win here. Al Hasem also won his maiden well at Fakenham over this trip and followed up over 8 furlongs at Huntingdon beating No Frylls and WFA Leopard (Wathiq 4th). Whilst Haneen won her maiden at this track over 9 furlongs and was just touched off by Mutafani in the 6 furlong sprint at Huntingdon and should go close again.
7th race = Classified Stakes 0-45 over 1 Mile 1 Furlong: Millenium Leap won well at Huntingdon back in May over 7 furlongs (the form has been franked by Senor Dubcheck (2nd) and El Buba (4th) both winning since), she was a good 2nd to Golden Dream at Huntingdon on the 7th beaten two lengths when conceding nearly a stone and runs off level weights here. Golden Dream finally lost her maiden tag over 6 furlongs and won in good style and has an excellent opportunity of following up here if she stays this far. Whilst El Buba won the Jebel Ali Final over this trip last season and won at this track over 1 Mile 6 furlongs when outstaying Bonham and Hayleys Comet in June and has strong place claims here.

Thanks for not tipping Deolali in the first race Paul he won easily on the soft ground at the grand age of 11 on his 50th race since he started as a three year old. Really pleased with Del upstaging some very good horses. Wikkara finished second but ran a good race over a distance a little short for him. |

Hereford Saturday 21st August by Paul Simmons
Review
1st race = The Hereford Hop Handicap 0-85 over 1 Mile 4 Furlongs: A popular win here for consistent handicapper Deolali (Khairouan x Operetta (Silver Scenario)) who was winning the 6th race of his career on his 50th start under rules for owner/trainer Adam Newey, he was held up with a run under a well judged ride from Tom Garner and tracked long time leader Majaales into the home straight before powering clear inside the final furlong to win by an easy two lengths. Speaking afterwards winning trainer Newey said “I thought he would run well as he likes soft ground but I am surprised he won so well”. Karline (Karmah x Elina Des Fabries) ran well on his debut held up in second he made smooth progress inside the home straight and challenged inside the final two furlongs but couldn’t catch the winner. Whilst Majaales (Chndaka x Seglaoui) cut out a decent pace out front but was one paced in the closing stages and stayed on well for third ahead of Gazal.
2nd race = The Royal Cavalry of Oman Novice Rider Handicap Stakes 0-70 over 1 Mile 1 Furlong: A second impressive win of the campaign for smart progressive colt Flashcat (Concord x Edjalie (Bengali D’Albret)) under an excellent ride from Theresa Gavin, he was settled in second throughout and cruised into the lead inside the final furlong to win by just under a length for owner/trainer and breeder Glen Kiff and he looks firmly on the upgrade. Pacific Way (Way To Go x Bacifica) ran another game race in second she travelled well and ran on well under pressure in the closing stages but couldn’t reel the winner in, she remains in good form. Billoube (Bengali D’Albret x Billou Al Maury) bravely tried to make all and stayed on well in the closing stages but lost second close home.
3rd race = The Lovetheraces.com OPEN (TB/AA) Handicap 0-180 over 1 Mile: Mandys Meastro made a bold bid for a follow up victory here and cut out a decent pace, but Spirit Rising (Zilzal x River’s Rising) was always cruising in behind and went into a strong lead three furlongs out under a great ride from Mr G Bartlett and powered clear to win by a comfortable two lengths for owner Raymond Harries and trainer Richard Spate. Annie Moyles ran a promising race back in second , she made good progress in the home straight and chased the winner inside the final furlong but was never nearer. Whilst Global Achiever was well beaten nine lengths back in third and looked tapped for toe in the final but stayed on ahead of Extra Cover.
4th race = The Athbah Stud Handicap 0-60 Stakes over 7 Furlongs: An impressive double here for owner/trainer and breeder Glen Kiff as his smart filly Katwalk (Makzan x CS Shamal (Bengali D’Albret)) lost her maiden tag in fine style under a well judged and confident ride from Steve Harrison. She was always prominent and although outpaced at the half way stage, she came with a strong burst inside the final two furlongs and quickened clear to pass Wikkara and Unshooda to score by half a length. Wikkara (The Wiking x Akara De Syrah) was held up with a run and made smooth headway inside the straight and stole second close home but was held by the winner. Unshooda (Makzan x Shunah) looked the winner two furlongs out as she came with a confident run but she was collared by the first two inside the final furlong and had to settle for third just ahead of Star Valentina.
5th race = The Come Racing With ARO Stakes over 7 Furlongs: A second win of her career for Laqataat (Bengali D’Albret x Qosheeya) who made short work of the opposition here under a supremely confident ride from Phil Collington, she always looked in control and showed a useful turn of foot inside the final furlong to pull clear of the field to win easily by three lengths for owner/breeder HH Sheikh Hamdan and trainer Gill Duffield. The Royal Cavalry of Oman’s Wathiq (Nenuphar Al Maury x Tawam) took second inside the final two furlongs and ran on well in the closing stages but was always being held by the winner, whilst stablemate Kerbelle Lotoise (Kerbella x Dheila Lotoise) struggled to go the pace inside the straight but was kept up to her work to hold onto third and was well clear of Roudd To Man.
6th race = The Kelanne Stud Classified Stakes 0-45 over 1 Mile 1 Furlong: A first win of the campaign for the Jenny Peyton owned and trained mare Trip To Khairo (Khairouan x Tikis Trip) , she was always in contention and powered clear with Shamal inside the final two furlongs before showing a useful turn of foot inside the final furlong to go clear by four lengths under a great ride from Rob Woollard. Shamal (Sun Al Maury x Zak Zak) put in a career best performance for owner/trainer/breeder and jockey Paul Brown, he was at the rear of the field but swept through the field inside the final four furlongs to take third before challenging for victory in the closing stages; his turn looks near. Millenium Leap (Khairouan x Balla Star) ran another consistent race back in third, she chased the first two inside the final two furlongs and was gaining with every stride at the line but had to settle for third.
7th race = The Red Mills Horse Feeds OPEN (TB/AA) Handicap over 1 Mile 4 Furlongs: A second win of the campaign for Sally Bowen owned/trained and ridden Yankey (Amfortas x Key) who out galloped his rivals in great style to win. He was always helping force the pace up the front of the field and went 2nd from half way before sweeping into a clear lead two furlongs out but was hard ridden by Bowen inside the final furlong to land this victory. An eye catching run just three quarters of a length back in second from How Realee (Kotashaan x Lucky Diverse), he led from half way but lost his chance on the final bend but came back with a strong run inside the final furlong and was gaining at the finish. Whilst Coffin Dodger (Dracula x Karakul) was always towards the rear but stayed on dourly in the closing furlongs to take third.
