Hi!
As you know I'm new to the Arab and have fallen in love with the breed.
I want to know more about where to go to find out more - are there open days I can go to? Magazines I can read (not Horse and Hound it seems!!!). Shows. People to talk to.
All advice very appreciated.
Thanks!
Amy!

Hi Amy Its difficult for anyone not to fall in love with arabs (not that im biased!) I dont know where abouts you are? But i would find your local region arab horse group and go and watch the shows, also if you look on their website they usually hold open days/ training days at some studs. For example if you're down near East Sussex Silverdale usually do a training day all about in hand and it doesnt matter if you dont already have an arab. Most people on here will help answer your questions and you can learn a lot looking through the old posts on here. Most people on here like to help and share their experiances. Hope to see you around the show circuit at some point |

Amy welcome , I really dont know what to say, you have entered the world of the most amazing animal to walk the earth as far as I am concerened , but the arab world is complicated. try to learn about the horse and not the people. learn the history of the breed. the Arab horse is all that is important. people ?............ |

Hi Amy...Do you know how to use the 'PM' system on here? There is a very good mag you could subscribe to but I am not allowed to tell you which one on this forum I can 'PM' you but no point if you don't know how to use it
I would also recommend you join the Arab Horse Society, I have been a paid up member for nearly 25 years, they also send out a couple of nice publications.
Ebay have some great books on Arabians, as do the AHS, the other Arabian mag I will tell you about by PM and Madge from Arabian Emporium.
I no longer subscribe to H&H fro obvious reasons.

Hi Amy Welcome to AL. Why don't you go & watch an endurance ride? They're held all over the country. Or what about going to the Arab Marathon - that's a ride and a half (26 miles in less than 1.5 hours)! You'll see beautiful, fit Arabs (& other breeds) thoroughly enjoying themselves. The endurance crowd are really friendly & I'm sure they'd be happy to talk to you. The AHS website (www.arabhorsesociety.com) has details of the Marathon & the endurance website (www.endurancegb.co.uk) has a list of all the rides & distances, bound to be one near you. Where are you based? |
