I use Barrier Hygiene sunblock for Ammi - it's a white bottle with green writing. It's quite thick so gives good protection, and it's soothing as well. Even if he's quite pink it seems to take the burn down quickly. Or you could try smothering his nose with Sudacrem or something similar to ease it. Anything with aloe vera in it would help but wouldn't act as a sunscreen, so you could try that if he's in his stable and then use a sunblock when he goes out.

Hope you find something that helps.

My sister used a cream from the chemist that was a barrier cream for babies, it wasn't suda cream, but I am sure somebody on here knows the name, it comes in a tube and is yellow

I also used Sudacream on my Palomino Venessa - her nose was really red and almost blistered. She is in during the day - but still has her head out of the door. The sudacream has completely cleared it up. I gather buttercups can also cause pink sore noses.

I use banana boat sport SPF 50 on Ziad's pink nose and freeze mark, and its spray on so once they get used to it its quick and easy to apply, and it seems to last all day if you put it on in the morning. It's an Australian brand so its designed for proper sunshine and is waterproof, sweatproof etc. Suncreams seem to vary in how effective they are even if the SPF's are the same, I have fair and sensitive skin and usually use the banana boat with no problems, but when I used Boots SPF 50 one day I came back burnt!

I bought some 24 hour protection sun cream from Asda for Sunny, as I just know anything I attach to his head will probably end up in a tree! Its formulated to 'bond' to the skin & hopefully stays put longer. It seems to be doing the trick & I apply it the night before as a friend turns him out. The prob you usually have is that pink noses spend the day poking about in grass & inevitably rub the cream off!
Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the stuff but I'll check tonight & let you know

Riemann (sp?!) P20 - great stuff. Bonds to the skin so 1 application is enough and no gunk - it's a liquid.

Gold Label Sunguard, by Westgate is good stuff.

I used to use Sudocrem, but she rubs her nose on her knees and got the cream into her eyes - result, very swollen weepy eyes.
Never had that problem with the Sunguard, and it acts as a soother as well.

I don't mind Milotkha, his registered name is WFA Ziad and he was bred by Mr and Mrs Bancroft, Water Farm Stud, Suffolk.

Ollie wears his yashmak. The 2010 version is made from a trashed fly rug which means that he can breathe through it without a worry. Works like a charm, no need for any creams etc. It attaches to a field safety headcollar and I can un velcro it to wash it. Easy peasy.

Nothing to do with suncreams, but Etoile I do like your boy, they are both nice, which one is he. How is he bred. I use to like the Bancroft's stallion that they hunted. Forgotten his name was it Wrzos or something similar

The yellow baby stuff that was mentioned above I assume is called something like Metanium and is a zinc based cream and is absolutely fantastic for nappy rash and sun burn.

Tzarina, Wrzos is his sire, Ziad's on all breeds, http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/wfa+ziad. Thanks for the nice comments about the boys, but the pics aren't of him, I haven't had Ziad for very long so I don't have a decent picture of him frolicking in the sun yet (they're of Senjai on the left and Salladin on the right). This is Ziad a couple of days ago out hacking:

Running along looking slightly dubious, due to the busload of people with metal detectors that were wandering round the verges and fields

And resting:

(Sorry for the slightly off topic post angelarab!)

We've found some of our pink noses will not tolerate us slapping cream on every day!!! So we used a mesh guard which fits to the noseband - they soon get used to it and it saves the hassle of the cream on nose problems.
