Yes, I know it should be on the showing forum but this is GREAT news!
Not only did Liz Cross return for the Cuddy challenge on the second day of Cheshire show ( sadly the pure bred didn't) not much chance you might have thought but ... she did it!! She now goes forward to the Cuddy Supreme with Farenella Valencia as a part bred Arab (she's also a Hack & and intermediate ridden!!) A very, very, big well done to Liz & team support on behalf of all of us Arab fans.
PLease, please follow Liz's lead and promote your Arabs--- pure or part and see where it takes you??

It is brilliant news.
Liz has done so well with Valencia.
For those who don't know Valencia is by fairlyn Gemini out of a black 14.2hh show pony called Nork Soprano who was by Celtic Ballard.
Soprano was very successful under saddle her self and was a beautiful mare sidesaddle.
Her breeder Louise Farrington bred two filly by Gemini.
I feel very proud as i foaled her

I may be wrong, but I think I've heard Highland pony owners (who appropriately call their ponies HiPos)..... also call them "cuddys" so I thought that this term meant Highland. Please tell me what cuddy means as I feel really dim!

I thought that Cuddy was a sort of championship youngstock class i.e. top 2 from each youngstock section (i.e. 2 hunters, 2 coloureds) go through to the Cuddy and then the winner of that goes to HOYS... someone please correct me if i'm wrong!
It's a huuge achievement!!! Very well done |

It is a supreme in hand championship - to qualify you have to be the overall supreme champion at one of the big designated shows. So yesterday there were ten section champions competing for the final supreme and the ticket to go to the Horse of the Year show final, which is sponsored by the Cuddy family.
So Liz beat all the other champions over two days to take the supreme in hand award - some achievement - when most of the others were representing the top professional producers and breeders in the country. |

What a fantastic result and huge kudos for the Arabian breed. I'm a big fan of FG having had a colt by him and hope Valencia goes on to cover herself in glory at HOYS |

Many congratulations to Liz and Pip, having been Reserve Cuddy Champion the week before. This win was totally justified.
How lovely to hear that Nork Soprano was by Celtic Ballard, as he won the then called Lloyds Bank Championship at HOYS in 1985. This was also the year that our own Part-bred stallion Roedean Rhythm 'n' Blues went through to the Lloyds, and was placed.
In those days, the owners, breeders and exhibitors were treated to the most delicious lunch, after which we all fell out of the hotel. How any of the handlers walked a straight line in the evening performance is beyond me! This championship is the ultimate Breeders competition, and it is absolutely brilliant that there are two PBA animals through, both of whom are Cherif competitors.
To Liz and Trudy, we all wish you the very best of luck in October. |
