Hi - I'm new to Arabianlines and was just wondering if anyone has or knows of any Donax descendents? I own a 26 year old mare (Donirah of Burhill) who is a daughter and I'd love to know of any relatives out there.

Hello and welcome.
I am sure there will be loads on here with Donax relatives. Lots of palominos by Quadeha (Donax x Krysia) for a start.
I have a Donax Grandaughter Fayrelands Hawaiian Dawn (Quadeha x Fayrelands Hawaiian Lady) who is now 27, and a great-great grandaughter Springtimer Fabulous (Shulay Faberge x Roundhills Autumn Glory).
Would love to see pictures of Donirah. Is she purebred and what is her dam line? Donax was gorgeous. Have you bred any Donax grandchildren out of her?

In the early 80:ies my mother imported a PBA mare by Donax ex a polopony mare bred by the late Lord Mountbatten. This mare was only 15.1 hh but was a very sucsessfull showjumper and competed for many years and as a very old mare produced 2 foals. |

Yes Nirah (Donirah) has bred a foal called Daklina, wow small world! She's bred 3 filly foals I know of but I've never been fortunate enough to trace the owners. One of them (Lukarmans Inspiration) has sired a black arab stallion called Jubilee Black Prince who I beleive is quite a well known stallion now. She's such a sweet mare, I did try to get a foal out of her for myself when I first bought her but unfortunately she was barren. |

I have a Donax daughter, Raebecca who is out of Raechell (Stargard x Ashraff). She is on out on loan and has been for the last 7 years - a happy hacker at 23yrs and totally adored by her loan 'mummy', so no chance of claiming her back LOL!!!!!.
I also had the pleasure of owning a half sister to Donax - Queen Yasimet (Indian King x Dargemet), until she sadly passed away at age 28yrs. She was the most beautiful, regal mare and gifted me with 4 gorgeous foals (a colt by Ibn Elijah (Ralvon Elijah x Duenna) and 3 fillies by Zeyn (Marawan x Feadora). I still have the pleasure of the company of one of her daughters, Tahir bint Malika, and her grand-daughter by Taj el Nil, both a joy to be around and share some 'moments' with

we bred two colts by Donax; El Ghalib, out of Taretta by Donax ( now roughly 17 yo) and his younger, full, brother ,who was a beautiful liver chestnut, unregistered ( its complicated!) and a filly by Donax too; Rose Crystal by Donax out of Spey Crystal she must be about 14/15 years old, too.
Rose crystal is still in Cornwall i believe , as is the unregistered gelding "Barnie" as we named him , and El Ghalib aka "Jimmy" was sold on recently to somewhere in Yelverton in Devon. |

Aww, how lovely to hear that Misshana. Becks has really thrived under Jenny's care and really enjoys being a pleasure horse.
Sadly, Becks was an orphan foal and had a little bit of attitude (hated men, not sure why) whilst she was growing up, but she produced some lovely foals and wasn't backed until she was almost a teenager. It was obvious that she enjoyed going out and about under saddle rather than rearing children - so along came Jenny to offer her the perfect home.

Tahir, my gelding was hand reared too, although not an orphan, so is a bit humanised lol. Hope to meet up again with Jenny if anymore local rides come along. Becks certainly looks really well. Love liver chestnuts. |

I Had forgotten about the Donax colt out of my rescue mare Evening Snowdrop who went by the name of Brunsboy. I never found out where he was but heard that the owners took the mare out of the field and just left him behind. Someone may have heard of him. He would be about 29 now. |

I have one of Donirah's daughters named Dhamma Fielen. She was foaled 1998 and her sire was Ibn Charismma. Bay in colour, she reminds of Probat. Donirah nearly lost her life then as it turned out to be a very traumatic foaling. We were told at the time by our vets that she would probably never be able to have another foal. I lost track of Donirah (or Nirah as we called her) when my then wife and I separated in 2001. It is good to know that she has a good home.
Ellie (Dhamma Fielen) has bred one foal, Ashsham Amir (Sunny), a chestnut gelding, who has just turned two and is now at an endurance home in Essex. |

I have a 6 year old Donax grandon by Ishmaan that Pauline (Tamila) mentions above. Ishmann was 27 in April and still looks fab and Luhka my gelding his last son.
Gorgeous boys both of them with matching temperaments, even though I am biased! |
