My mare Maddie has this really silly habbit that if shes stood doing nothing she pulls faces at you and she also does this at walk and trot when doing some schooling. She sometimes starts to do it when were down the road from the yard when returning from a hack. Otherwise shes fine and has too much to look at and spook at to pull faces.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could discourage the face pulling whilst riding?

I was thinking of showing her this year but all she'll do is pull faces at the judges and same if we did a walk and trot dressage test!

LOL.
I couldn't show my mare. If she isn't going somewhere, she's bored.
If she has to stand for more than 30 seconds, she drops a hip (including at every road junction we come to). Hates the school, because she can't see the point in going around in circles. If I ask her to trot up on the yard, she pulls horrendous faces because she CAN'T SEE THE POINT OF IT.
But, at least I don't have to deal with a fidgety horse that won't stand still, so there is a brighter side .

Mine's a chilled out Crabbet. What's your girls breeding?

Mine even drops a hip when I stand her at the mounting block. I have to tell her to straighten up, or she'll keel over as I get on!!
