My sweet Fharida was backed today, with very little preparation, other than long reining and sticking a saddle on her for 20 minutes. I was at work but will get some photos on Saturday as I didn't witness it. She just stood still and walked when she was asked, the in-hand training and showing really pays off at this stage. It was no surprise to me as she has been looking at me for months as we go past the menage and almost asking me to climb on her. She is a very bold horse and when one of the others is being ridden in the menage, I stand her outside so she can see what is happening, it's like she was disappointed when we weren't getting on her back.
We backed Emira in October, who then won her first two shows under saddle so we are hoping this little one will have similar fun, but does not have such an imposing stature.
Hope its not raining on Saturday.
