Just caught up with the very sad news that BNCh Estasan Ibn Estopa has been pts in Australia aged 26 years. I knew Estasan from when he first came to the UK as a yearling to join Brian Blake's Riversdale Stud. I photographed him many times and he was always so full of life - he was well-known for his joie de vivre and cheeky character - which he shared with Brian!! I last saw him when we went to wish him Bon Voyage as he set off for Australia from Jo and Lyn Scholes stud. RIP Estasan - I'll never forget you.

What sad news to read. I met him a few times, once when I went to an open day at Brian Blakes and had the pleasure of seeing him at home.
A lovely horse.
RIP Estasan.

I remember touring around studs 'up north' ! we visited him at Blythe Hall. He was stabled next to I think Posuer and the two of them had eaten a hole through to each other so they could kiss and play. It was very charming.
Sad loss but a stallion that made a difference. |
