Ha ha, thanks Josje. John and I are only days away from divorceso this ewe feeder must work.
Babs, the ewe feeder is a Volac EWE 2 feeder. If you google volac you will find it.
I am so lucky that dear Sally Etchells, saw my plight online and so kindly sent down her unit. We are really grateful, she went above and beyond the call of duty by sending it down, it's a massive unit. It will be returned in pristine condition with a surprise inside (a foal).......... only joking!!
My filly is sucking from the teat now, it is mounted on the side of the stable, a bit bland looking but she doesn't seem to mind. Syd can't reach, we have to feed him outside the door now. But he doesn't need so much milk as the foal. It keeps the milk warm all the time and is wonderful. It holds 25 litres I think or something like that, I didn't fill it, John did! So we are OK for the night. I won't miss Emmerdale now
I meant to say Babs, we waited for Ingrid to become hungry, then John sucked some milk from the teat She saw him doing this and just copied. What are we like |

Sue.......the mind boggles....just picturing John on all fours, sucking the teat
Would have loved to see the expression on Ingrid`s face too!! "OK OK...Pops, got the idea...move over let me have a go....mmmmmm, yummee...dont need the bottle any more, off you go to bed now"
Thanks for the info Sue, will follow that through. Pleased divorce is no longer threatening Foalies, we must be mad!!
Big Hugs for Ingrid and Syd, John and Yourself for your perseverance

Well, I got into trouble! He was 'testing' the teat, making sure it pulled the milk up. Oh dear
The ewe milker is working well. I get some much needed sleep and as long as it is not too hot we can fill it with up to 4 feeds at one time. Now I have slept I feel worse than before!
I tried so hard to get some pics of the two of them together. Do you know, it is almost impossible!! little monkies chase around so much I have been lucky to get these few for you.
ps. Montoya leaves us 21st March. Although sad, the rest that we will get sounds so good right now.

Thanks so much, we obviously love her to bits. We are like two doting parents cooing and fussing around her
She has her rug on in the stable, stand quietly while we fiddle around to take it off, she walks calmly to the field or school......then goes quite mad!!
She has so much attitude. Pat, Monty babies are born trotting, be warnedthey love to show off.
Syd is well, he comes in the house for his bottle now as he can't reach the ewe feeder |

Sue, the story of Ingrid and Syd would make a fantastic children's book seriously!
Those pictures are so heartwarming, bless the two of them, she really is quite something ~ will you keep her?

Hi Jai,
Originally this foal from Fantastica was to be offered for sale. We sat down and worked out that if we keep a foal born now, we might be mucking out in our 80's but we just can't let this filly go.
I have had three offers to sell her, no way, so sorry. Even if I have to get help in at some stage of my later life, this filly goes no where! |

Don't blame you !
Hope that you can still type into your 80's so that we can follow her life, she really is quite exquisite !

Oh Sue she looks wonderful, a very healthy and beautiful filly! So glad you got her on a feeder now, my handreared filly, now rising 6 yrs old, was started off on a human baby bottle and absolutly refused to drink milk from anything else! |
