Mine was fairly lively.....!

I decided to just go out with one other horse and to stick to the roads. My friend road my mare who Ozzy gets on well with and we set off for our walk.

Ozzy jogged for just over two miles even though i was in front. (He's not really jogged for any length of time before, only really to catch up with someone else on the ride) If my mare came up anywhere near him he had a bit of a tantrum and waved his about and then shot forward desperate to not let her get in front of him. When we attempted to trot he cantered sideways up the road...

Apart from this he was quite good and when he did manage to walk he had the fastest walk i've every experienced. Our ride on Saturday was just over 6 miles. All on the road with two short trots.

I rode him again on Sunday just with one other person and again he shot off in front at a jog, but went back to walk after about 10 min and only got stroppy if the other rider came to close to him. We probably did about 3 miles. I gave him a day off today (cos i needed to ride my mare) and i may attempt a route tomorrow with some grass.....

How are you all getting on..?

Got rid of the snow but I now have a stinking cold so STILL not able to ride....I'm hoping for a gentle ease back into the saddle when I do though

Ours was very lively! Probably a bit foolhardy because we took all 5 out together yesterday, riding 3 and leading 2 because it seemed so unfair to leave anyone behind after being stuck in for so long, and my sister had failed to get my 2 nieces out of their beds....Anyway just as we left the yard my sister's gelding Charlie shot up the lane with the kid's welshie in tow - YO was lurking in the hedge round the corner, luckily the rest of us were still in the drive so didn't join in. Lots of jiggling, Next Charlie took exception to a pickup truck with a load of ladders sticking up over the cab - so we all hid in a driveway while this went past. Next we were trotting up the road and Lily my 4 year old took a strong exception to not being allowed to canter, and having to follow the 2 in front (we weren't leading anyone by the way), so after a bit of hopping up and down she suddenly took off backwards at speed, past my mother on her gelding and the mare she was leading, which was a bit of a surprise...They were all absolutely full of the joys of spring and a bit of a handful. We got back safely and with a sigh of relief but it was absolutely wonderful to get out at last, and such a lovely bright day.

Went out again this morning, just my Mother and I, much calmer!

Apparently there's more snow on Wednesday

Last week I got out but only on the roads as still snow on the tracks.
Two words describe Rosie: 'Unexploded bomb!!!'

Had a fabulous ride this aft, & managed to get off-road. Wanted to trot & Rosie was just aching to canter & so frustrated when I wouldn't let her.
I love it when she's like that though.
You'd think at 20 years young she'd been a bit calmer?
Once we get in regular work she'll be fine again.
So nice to back back riding again after all the snow & the weather today was fabulous.

Both of mine were completely normal. But then the girls live out so they've not had any pent-up steam to let off. Marygold didn't like the piles of snow on the verges where the snow ploughs have been through, and didn't want to walk over them to start with. Other than that, they were the same as they always are!

Tell you tomorrow! I have a lovely photo of my mare's first turnout for 3 days. The snow we could manage but the ice was too tricky for shoes.

Like the others i had a lively pony after two weeks off. I went prepared with the pelham. I had ridden before the snow in between the ice with only the snaffle and finished with my arms elongated!!!!

She was fab and managed a control canter around the fallow fields nearby. It took a 2 mile speedy walk for warm up and even speedier return. At last a pony fix was had!!!!! What's the need for drugs.

3 of us decied it wuld b a gd idea 2 take horses along the beach!!!
It was great fun!!!
We took Merlin, Gerry (the part bred arab), Pudsey (the tb x arab he is blind but we never have the heart 2 leave him at home) We were also joined by Katy who has a very big Spanish stallion called Ed 4 short! He is 17hh and likes nothing better than 2 have a race along the beach!

Gerry and Ed went first with Pudsey on the long line! You will be really suprised how he keeps up with them, and Merlin at teh back!! But we raced up and down untill they were sweaty!!! I loved it!!!

All mine were totally normal, but their turnout routine has not changed and we do have the use of a horsewalker and I also made a lunging area which was very useful

We have only had about a week when we have not been able to get out at all.

Well. the first ride was okay but a bit bouncy. We have had snow again and today I turned the horse over! She lost her front end on some deep snow that must have had ice underneath and we gracefully rolled in the snow together. Pulled my back a bit but she seems okay. We were out checking sheep, but a misty fog had descended so we didn't see much either.
