Yesterday (weds) when I went to my yard I was told that on Tues night someone had been to a nearby yard- only a couple hundred yards from ours - overnight and put a plait in 1 of the horses manes. The owner also believes that the horse was doped, as he's not a very nice horse to handle and when she found him, he was staggering about, she said his legs were very uncoordinated. Also he'd been moved from where he'd been left. Last night I had a text from my friend and yard owner Gill, to say she'd forwarded me a text she'd received from the young lady who helps with the horses next door. The original text was from her friend who also keeps her horses a few hundred yards from where ours are. On Tues night, her fences were cut, and her Arab had a plait put in its mane. Her other horse had a shoe removed. Both horses were taken out of their stables and put in a field near the road. I've never been to this yard, but I'm told that the house overlooks the stables. Both properties had markers put outside, to mark where the horses were, we think it must have been done by whoever marked the horses. Large footprints, around a size 10-11 were found at both properties, as well as large dog footprints. Surprise, Surprise, the police are not interested, say they can't do anything unless someone actually steals one of the horses. It's very worrying.

Very worrying, if there's a local Horsewatch I would tell them and they'll spread the word for people to be extra vigilant. |

Pity when the horses are found like this that a group couldn't be mustered at short notice and lie in wait for these thieves. The police are a waste of space. |

Get friendly with the local plod, our one set up a hotline for u to email any updates. She was excellent, prob helped that she also had a horse. At least sharing information makes everyone aware of whats going on. Thinking of you, its a horrible thing to deal with, our horses are at home so bit easier, but it turns you paranoid.. couldn't stop peering out of window at the slightest noise |
