Lynda what a nightmare re hay ! I've only got two bales left but at least only have 1.5 ponies to feed .
We don't have any straw though whatsoever as I had to move in such a hurry so they are on deep litter at the moment and hoping we can get a local farmer to drop a bale or two of straw over the fence for us.
It's very pretty but just darned hard work when you have animals to care for isn't it ...

Must admit - getting a bit fed up with news readers going on about a couple of inches of snow! We had over 24 inches before Christmas. That got impacted and froze, then it snowed, froze and snowed again. It's lethal. Whole village is cut off and local farmers are literally pouring thousands of gallons of milk away because the tankers can't get up to collect it.
This was Day 1 of the snow on 21st December - it's snowed and frozen every day since then, reaching -12 on Monday:
Day 1 and me trying to get to work:
Day 4 (Christmas Day)
Evie and Sloppy playing
Sybil doing an impersonation of the abominable snow setter
Day 16 (yesterday)
This is the main road out of our village
Day 17 (today) and it's impossible to get to work. All schools shut and can't get off the farm since morning yesterday
The farm

Lovely pictures everyone thanks for sharing Andrea that's a lovely story about Cupid
We haven't had that much snow here compared to some of you but it's still enough to make extra work and hassle. I'm fed up of the cold now I'm not very well and feel dreadful but luckily my two are being very good about everything.
I have lots of hay but have run out of bedding and my pallet of bedding that I've ordered is stuck somewhere in the snow My boy decided that this would be a good time to kick over his water bucket (his automatic drinker is frozen) and waste what bedding he had got left, silly boy!
Stay safe in the snow everyone |

Hi Helen O my! it's quite something here this morning!Alot of drifted snow because of the wind,so we are truly cut off.I can see the fitness that Luxor had before Christmas, disappearing by the day. Helen,I am very envious you have a nearby pub to ride to! Is anybody managing to ride in this?

I'd been bragging that we had no snow and woke up to about 8 inches of the stuff!!
Picture of my little dog having a wee This is my lane and the tracks are from my husband who has just driven off in my old Pajero 4wd. He is already at the shops and reports back via phone saying even the main roads are not gritted! Only tractors and 4wd are getting through around here. We are North Devon.
Does anyone watch the programs Ice Truckers? (where men are men and the women are glad of it )!! How do they manage to drive those big lorries on the frozen sea?

I saw Ice Truckers last night, they are welcome to it even paid the money they do. Cannot understand why a female would want to do that Personaally I think it takes a certain breed to be a HGV driver
Nice pic Sue,
Is there anywhere in the UK that isnt white |

I haven't seen the lady driver yet, I think I must be watching older programs? God she must have some balls to do that job. I get worried for them when the sea starts to melt, they certainly earn their money. Good Luck to em.
Gates into my yard. Even my pigs on the gate posts are snowy |

Lovely photos everyone. We only had about an inch here last night so I managed to get to work and back home this evening. Luckily I don't have to worry about doing the horses until the weekend as my friend is doing them today, tomorrow and Friday! I am not looking forward to when it starts freezing over and the roads and pavements being covered in ice! |
