Carol and Alice, I'm so sorry to hear about Sam. Nothing devastates you more than the loss of a beloved horse. You did all you could for him and I'm sure if he could talk he would thank you. He's at peace now. My thoughts are with you at this sad time. |

I am so sorry to hear that Sam has lost his fight. What a very beautiful boy he looks in that lovely photo with his mum. There is nothing anyone can say to make it easier for you in your loss, but all the good times you shared with your special boy will eventually be what you remember about him. Take care of yourself, you did your very best for him, and that should always be a comfort to you.

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, when their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next, is a place where beloved creatures find rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed. Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.
They trot through the grass without even a care, til one day they whinny and sniff at the air. All ears forward, eyes sharp and alert. Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.
For just at that second, there's no room for remorse. As they see each other...one person...one horse. So they run to each other, these friends from long past The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart has turned to joy once more in each heart. They nuzzle with a love that will last forever. And then, side-by-side, they cross over...together
I'm so very sorry Carol & Alice. You did everything you could to help in & when the time came, made the bravest, most difficult decision any owner can make. Take comfort in the fact that Sadie will be looking after him now. I had the honour of knowing Sam for a few years. A true gentleman, sweet natured & always ready with a cuddle. A hint of mischief but always reliable. Sweet Dreams Sam xxx |

I can't tell you how sorry I am to learn that Sam has lost his fight - I really thought he was going to pull through having got this far and I know how you must be feeling, having shared the same devastating experience last June. I hope that when you feel able you will post some more pics of your beautiful boy and share your memories with us. RIP Sam. xx |

Ive followed this thread but haven't posted as things were looking good, my heart sank when I read the heading. Im soo soo sorry for your loss, words and platitudes cant make you feel any better but know that you are not alone in how you are feeling right now, time does not heal it just eases and dulls the pain. Its the worst time of year to be bereaved I think. RIP magnificent Sam. |

I have not been on the computer for a wee while and couldn't believe that Sam has lost the brave fight. My heart goes out to all who loved him at this sad time. I was hoping (as we all were) that he was through the worst of it and that he would be okay.
He knew so much love and kindness in his life and sounded like he was indeed a very special horse.
I am so sorry for your loss...
