My head is now spinning Po has been on Cosequin which my vet advocated, but now the insurance isn't paying for it I have to choose and fork out

I'm told by vets that Cosequin and Synequin are the best on the market and that they are both similar, i.e both with high levels of pure glucosmine and Chondroitin Sulphate. I've been trying hard to compare them but I have to multiply as they give the levels according to the grams per scoop and both use different sized scoop, typical! However I think they are both comparable if my calculations are correct?

Why then can I get (cheapest I can find) Cosequin for £75 but Synequin for £130? Is Synequin better? Am I missing something?

Forget that, they were different sized tubs. 700g Cosequin = £125 and 1kg of Synequin = £130, so it seems Synequin is the cheaper of the two now! Anyone know if I can get them cheaper?

You need to work out the per day cost rather than cost per tub or gram.

I was advised to put my boy on either Cosequin or Synequin by the vet. At the time (2 yrs ago) Cosequin was more expensive, but more widely available through online stores, so I put him on it for as long as I could afford, but had to change it eventually. I changed to Aviform Suppleaze Gold - and there was no deterioration. He has been on it since. I did an ingredient comparison of various supplements and this was favourable. Also helped by the fact that if you buy two, you get the third free. Cost me about £90 for 1.6 kg. Maybe worth a try?
Good luck.

Hi Fee,

Zatasha was on Synequin for a while as recommend by our vet until her insurance ran out. We then changed her onto Equimins Flexijoint which is £39.00 for a 1kg tub and we didn't notice any difference.

I know, you do have to wonder what difference it makes but you have to rely on those that know best. I ended up buying Cosequin again as Clyde vets are doing a special on it til Jan 10. Will need to stock up
