To test the ability of horses in the US to carry weight over long distances i.e. 100 miles in a day. For the Cavalry I think?

No me neither and now I have to think of another one what happened to everyone else?
Silver Birch won the Grand National in 2007, who trained him when he won the Welsh National in 2004?

Ok 3parts to this:
What distance was the 1st Golden Horseshoe on Exmoor over?
What was the minimum speed in order to gain Gold
And how many Gold awards were there
I might even be in with a chance myself if it was still the same!!! |

Oh heck, that wasn't a very good guess. I should know the answers but it one of those things that I probably knew years ago but the answer is lost in my head amongst all the other rubbish Was it 50 miles? 6mph and no gold awards??? If not I give up, perhaps someone else could have a go. |

The first Goldenhorse was on Exmoor in 1965, the distance was "just over 50 miles".....and that's as far as I've got, despite extensive googling!

Hoping to do Exmoor Experience myself next year so hope the weather is as kind as it was this year.
Anyway moving away from endurance and hoping others will join in again, (what happened to vera?)
As it's HOYS week, which horse was Riding Horse of the year in 1989 and who rode it? |
