Right, another name that horse question. What was the name of the horse who played Black Beauty in the 1994 film version and what breed of horse was he? |

Oh - gosh - I remember seeing his 1/2 sister run - give me a minute!!! She was Peacework and the others were Tudor Orchid; Irish Orchid; and Indian Orchid - all mares. |

Yes Correct Marilyn. Loved Desert Orchid and was a member of his fan club. Did you take any photos of him racing? |

Yes I was a member too! When he won the Gold Cup I watched it with my then current class of mainy Asian children shouting for "the white one!" I never actually saw him race - he frequented southern tracks. I did get to photograph him in his stable when he was at Doncaster's first Sunday race day as a personality. I saw Peacework - I think at Hexham - and I think she subsequently suffered a fatal racecourse injury sadly. None of Dessie's family have shown anything remotely like his ability. He was certainly a uniquely talented horse - and he knew it!!! Back to school today so I'll post a question on my return!! |

CORRECT!!! I can remember Stroller's rounds quite clearly - maybe because I have the Royal Worcester model of him to bring back the great memories of a terrific pony and partnership - only 14.2 hh and jumping those HUGE fences - what guts!!! Mr Softee too - chestnut with lots of white. Snowbound is less clear - I think he was a bright bay and TB ish - rider was very stylish?? I've never been called for jury service! Heard plenty of tails of people who have and spending most of the time locked up and doing nothing ... hope you had a better experience! |

I have been called twice in less than 6months! You don't have to do it again if you are called within 2yrs of the 1st time, but I wanted to do it, figured its better than being at work! But no, most of us sat around all day, so not an interesting day. Better luck tomorrow hopefully!
Stroller was the most fantastic jumping machine wasn't he? What a shame he had that abscess in his mouth and came to grief in the team event. I don't think we will ever see his like again. The memory of him jumping those HUGE fences in the individual will never leave me. Like you I can't remember Snowbound too clearly, but remember him as a dark bay-but then it was in black and white!
Right, better try and think of a question. Back soon |
