Tara and I went to the Tally Ho ride yesterday and completed the 33 km Nov CR in 2 hours and 50 minutes, she had a heartrate of 39 at the end and so we received a Grade 1!!! I am so proud of my lovely mare, as this was her first CR at the grand age of 17!!
Hi Congratulations. Well done i told you it was dropping nicely when i listened to i. I reckon you and i had some of the lowest pulses of the day as mine was also 39. Good luck at next ride Kirsty
Hi cinnypony dont over cool just lightly wash down rug up and let the horse chill. we let ours lightly graze as were held up for the vetrting this helped them chill out. also relax yourself your horse pick up on you. (I'm a fine one to talk though as will probaly get very wound up at euston this weekend) kirsty
Cinnypony - If it's a cool day walking around inhand normally helps too if you can find somewhere reasonably quite to walk around. If it's windy you might need to rug up as the heart rate will shoot up if they get chilly and start to shake.
Thanks for the congrats people! It was good to see you again Kirsty :-)
I just sponged Tara down and then put her cooling fleece on and let her graze until it was time to go to the vetting. I think that delay at the vetting definitely helped!!
Next ride is meant to be Barbury Castle on the Sunday, but I have found out that my usual transport isn't available so am desparately trying to find something else at the moment!!
