Well I dont really know where to start to be honest. I've had a fantastic weekend!! We left home at lunchtime on friday with Cziko, Czaro and Ground Kontrol and had a really good trip to Ludlow Getting there in the rain! We got the boys off the lorry and let them settle in while i went to get my number and things for saturday. We had a quiet night in the lorry on Friday night as we had to be up early on saturday morning for the race. I got up and fed the boys and then the racecourse started to come alive with everyone up and moving around before i knew it i was on Cziko and waiting to start, It was only Carri-Ann on Leo and me on Cziko in the race so we both rode together to the 1st vetgate where carri's horse was lame Sad I then had to carry on all on my own but before I knew it Cziko was more than happy and we were riding with to lovely Irish girls, I rode all the way to the 2nd vetgate with them and then home. All three of us had a lovley canter over the finish line after all that mud out on course. I then took my time to vet to make sure things were all ok Cziko vetted with a final heart rate of 48 48 so i was more than pleased, I really couldnt believe that we had won it my 2nd year running just on Czelos full brother. I then went out and did the 65km on the sunday on Czaro our younger stallion he was fantastic and as good as gold as normal mum and I had a lovely ride with Gail Jupp so thank you for the company Gail your little mare was fab to put up with Czaro all the time bless her. We ended up walking for awhile as the tracks had got to muddy and slippy to trot on. Once we hit the hunting gate at the top of the hill all three horses pulled us home, and once again I had a lovely canter over the finish line Czaro and Ground Kontrol vetted with good heart rates and both got a Grade 4. I would like to thank EVERYONE who made this weekend fantastic for me!!!! I will hopfully be back next year for some more fun as long as the rain stays away. Grin haha Well done everyone! You all did fantastic in the mud and rain it wasnt a easy ride in any way. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lou, Cziko and Czaro

Jul 18th, 2009, 10:53pm Just returned from a lovely day at Ludlow, just crewing, the day was dry and warm from the start, with some really nice sunny spells in the afternoon. It was difficult to believe the weather that was thrown at us up here in Shropshire on Friday. rain rain and more rain, but by the end of day 2, the ground conditions were improving and drying up... Mary Korn took a nasty fall on the pipeline path in Bringewood and was whisked away to hospital with suspected cracked rib(s). Hope she's feeling better this evening and hope to get more of an update very soon on how you are, her horse Mylo was fine. -------------------------------------------------------- End of day results and into the overnight hold for the 160k 2 day ride. Lesley Dore & Firebird ( 42 mins in front of the next horse). Firebird we're plugging for you. Carol Jones - Ptotemaeus.Wales Thomas Roche - Joscone Robyn Catterall- Ellanora.Ireland Lorna Hogg - De Marco.Scotland
------------------------------ 100ER. Saturday Just the one finisher. No. 17 Gill Talbot and Malabar Storm Gill Talbot just finished. ------------------------------------ 80 ER Saturday. Class 9. 1 - Fiona Hamilton & Courtside 2 - Beverley Edwards & Tarus of Grangeway 3 - Eileen Hackett & Starlight of Grangeway 4 - Rachel Rolf & Selasphorus 5 - Kay Canafrey & Maria 6 - Ian Paterson & CS Kismet Just the six finishers. Loads of prizes stacked up to be given out, lots of bags of food, electrolights.etc.etc. Dengie buckets and feed...amounting, I understand, to £5K+ mark. Class 10 80ER- Young Rider. (with only three entries forward) Winner Louise Rich & OF Cziko. ( Taking the Trophy home again, as she won it last year) Few photos from Saturday, a lovely sunny day.
Catch you all later Sue

What a fabulous weekend- what a pity about the weather but we had a true endurance test! So delighted to get round the 2 day 160km with him in such fabulous condition at the end- and back home he seems as if nothing is any different, does not look like he has done a thing- only change is his manners are even worse and is dragging me around all the more!
He was a little naughty warming up on Saturday morning and ran off down the racecourse with me when I asked for the first canter! But once he'd done that he was great in the start and strode out in trot behind the lead car and front 2 horses. He did then pull and mess around alot of the way to VG1 and also at a few other times on day 1- sunday he gave me an easier ride but it was hard work for him to stay upright even in walk after the rainfalls.
Thanks to everyone who helped in anyway- like I said above - A True Endurance Test! |

Hi Lorna, You do know me and we have exchanged news before, You also had one of my pics from Red Dragon last year( the one with the thistle on his rump.) Was it Katie who stopped to help Mary Korn, I heard it was someone on a big grey, what a pity she was spun at the end, all that distance and the going..makes you want to sp-t. Cheers Sue |

Hi Sue it was Helen Macfarland on the grey who stopped and phoned Margaret when Lesley couldn't get a signal on her phone. They both went on and the person who waited with Mary had a chestnut horse. Rachel |

Whoops I forgot to say well done to Lorna on getting around such a tough ride as the going was terrible in the forest after all that rain. The 80km was quite enough for us |

A bit of a late reply, but just to say what a fantastic ride it was, a good, tough endurance ride. Sundance loved it as he is used to training on hills, the vets commented on how good he looked and this ride took our total EGB distance up to over 1,600k! |
