My friend, Nicole, and her husband Graham bought Caravella in foal to Vody. Very sadly, having foaled and lasted a year beyond that foaling, they came down to the field one day to find Caravella had died. Her son, Enzo (registered name, "Carrera") is the same age as Madaba (11) and a lovely example of an Arab. Still with Nicole, he is a stallion who has always been turned out with a gelding companion and, I have to say, has a temperament to die for. I was always sorry that I met Nicole after she had lost Caravella and I never had a chance to meet such a beautiful mare myself.. |

What a fascinating thread. Thank you for posting all the photos of those wonderful horses, in particular the one of Faery Rose who I went to the sale hoping to buy, but not enough pennies I'm afraid,. She had a lovely filly foal at foot, by El Saleem I think, and was in foal again to Peleng but at least I do now have her daughter G Sugarplum Faery who is by the fabulous El Saleem.
It was certainly an historic occasion having so many world famous arabians in one place being sold without reserve, and one that I am glad to be able to say "I was there". Who got the biggest bargain IMO? For the sheer amount of pleasure he has brought to so many people, I've got to say I think Sally had the bargain of the century in Vody!! But I think all of the people who bought one of the stallions had a bargain. Just imagine buying the world famous Peleng for £2600, Top for £3200, just two examples. A fabulous piece of modern Arab horse history, albeit a sad ituation |

I own Faery Rose's daughter by Peleng, Artizana Pavlova - a lovely mare, who gave me a very nice colt last year. Hopefully she is in foal with a filly for next year I spoke with the Rogers last year at Malvern and they still have Faery Rose at home, enjoying her retirement with another daughter, also by El Saleem, I think. Faery Rose was bred by the Plaistowes, and my Pavlova by Artizana Arabians, though they must have bought Faery Rose already in foal to Peleng. (I am not sure, but I think in the UK, the breeder is the owner at the time of birth, right? In DK, the breeder of a horse is the owner of the dam at the time of the actual breeding/covering of the mare, so that is a bit different.)
Anyway, thanks for all the photos of these wonderful horses - this thread has been very interesting to follow |

All Pilarka ending with a shot of Paul who got a huge round of applause when he was the successful bidder on Pilarka. She only sold for £9000 which really did reflect her quality or celebrity status !! Everyone wanted Shirley Watts to buy her and give her the luxury. What an honour it was to see this mare she made you feel very humble !! I felt like I should've bowed |

A lady at our yard has Fakir (Ibn Estopa x Bint Fikri), he was sold at the sales too I believe. He was gelded a few years later - but now lives a cushy life and is totally pampered by his owner. |

John and myself took Jenny Morris and Ken Hellier with us for the day, I can spot Ken in one of the pics.....he is very very ill right now poor man. Just been rushed into Musgrove Hospital.
I think Caroline Reeves bought Fanatica the dam of G.Fantastica, a lovely well balanced mare that I also wanted. We were all cooing about her in the stable, Caroline won that bid! Strange how life works out, now I have a Fanatica daughter in foal to a stallion Caroline bred! |

Yes Negashka (can't remember how to spell it) was by Gwizd. I once got her and Nakets manes all nice and long, putting cream on daily, then a numbty groom got that paddock of mares to take care of and I spat feathers when I saw she rubbed it all out in days!!
My hands hurt so much I had to put gloves on after all those foalies dragged me around!
