Kofihorse, I have a few of Nasmeshnik for you
He was, among others, the sire of Pacific that was exported to Denmark where he sired a good number of high quality offspring. Elat, the sire of my mare Pav's foal, due in May, is double Nasmeshnik. He is by the Russian stallion Abhat (Drug x Abhaziia) and out of Eleni (Pacific [Nasmeshnik x Peace] x Sheila [Silver Scenario x Samirha]. Samirha was also by Nasmeshnik.
Elat - who, by the way, is the best moving horse I have ever seen!

Hi Emma,
You will be sad to hear that Pakistan died last year. His best son, the beautiful Burkan (x Verdjinia (Nimroz x Vengria)) is now at Al Aryam in Abu Dhabi followig the closure of the Royal Stables.

I wish Timberwolf would see this thread and post a photo of her lovely mare (I can't get my flickr account to work ggggrrrr!!!). Timberwolf's mare is by the stunning Mascat out of Mozaic (by Pakistan). She is a wonderful ridden mare and can really turn on the trot when she wants to!!!
Fantastic photos everyone, please keep them coming!!!

Birthe...you are correct, you would have seen Vyigrysh at the sale where he was bought and is still owned by Rosie and Denny Butt.
Here is Roseanne's picture of him....!

So pleased everyone is enjoying this thread - how lovely to see all these wonderful horses
Dean - you and Annee know what these guys and gals do to you - am really getting withdrawl symptoms for the lack of Tersk Holland Sale - but more so the gathering of like minded people with the same admiration and love of the Ruskies Ooops yep it is Madras Kossack.
Birthe - yes Vygrish was at TH sale - I so remember Denny having his hand raised (unknown to him) after a night on the town. What a lucky move that was
Fee - yes Kubi is still at his very happy home Kossack and is available at stud
Shelley - Vaddiyah is definately her father's daughter
Tahir - send pic of Timberwolfs mare to me - I'll gladly post it.
Emma - Angelikah and Mondolinn are equisite - but would we expect anything less Many thanks for posting pics of Mascat - agree a great shame he wasn't with your family in his youth - wow, what a stallion, he's close to our hearts being sire of Aromat, so grandsire of the superb Karat and our special mare Pritcha
Back to the search for more Russian treasures

Hiya Jude, You are right, we have the same withdrawal symptoms. Have just had a look on the Kossack website and it seems that the T.H.S. 08 is on the same time as Malvern. Is it still a general auction of non-Tersk horses? I had a look on the sales section and there are some nice gee gees on there. |

What a great thread. Firstly I must say that two of the Russian girls I had Derjava and Polianka found the most tremedous homes after leaving me and for that I am so delighted. Derjava had always struggled with weight on her butt but Yvonne set to and such a credit to her she won the Nationals. Such a dear old girl she always seemed abit sad and appreciated every little thing you did for her. Polianka you are familiar with and boy has she fallen on her feet with Fee !!! Wish there were more people like this to sell horses to - breeding would be a joy again them
I also had Barmensha ( Mukomol / Buhta ) who was a wonderful big Russian mare with tremendous movement. She is the mother of Ffaberge who is still with me. I lost touch with B but was delighted to find she is still with the people I sold her to. Not doing much but enjoying life.
I didn't think I'd have another Russian but then I met Ruth !! She is by a Veteran son Laszlo who is out of the Balaton daughter Proba and out of a Abakan daughter Nadenova who is by Kapron and is also a grand-daughter of Nadeem who was bred by Margaret Evans Not a big mare but has a huge character !! She is due to Ffatal who has always had lovely babies with Russian bred mares so fingers crossed !! I know what I think it should look like but foals do make fools of you sometimes |

Dean - I love your picture of Madras Kossack. I visited The Kossack stud a few yeatrs back with Karen S, and after recovering from how well the stables etc are designed (top of my list to be able to chuck the poo through a shoot at the back of the stable - amazing!) It was Madras Kossack that really took my eye - think he was two then, and although we weren't there to look at him I was smitten - had to ask Robbie to get him out of his stable and wow was he all boy, just fabulous in the flesh! Don't have any russians myself presently, but wouldn't have to be convinced to have one in my stable tomorrow.
Love all the pictures, and bring on any Russian duals that may be planned. I loved the year at Aachen that Vodie and Premier stormed their stuff up and down the ring - I think those two boys made their way through a few handlers in that little contest, yet they both looked as fresh as daisies, and just seemed to grow in power! Definitly one of those never to be forgotten moments. |

This is one of my favourite mares Neposeda (Priboj x Nomenklatura) sorry the pic is only small
why you may ask - well she was dam of the following:
NAMEK (by Arax) who is sire of Mexicanka (dam of Morjak)
NARIADNAIA (by Aswan)
who is dam of NARIADNI (by Nabeg)
oh and of course grand dam of NARIM (Moment x Nejaia by Nabeg x Narianaia)

Aww Delyth that's so nice of you to say that but I feel blessed to have her as she is such a joy
Ok Delyth a question/opinion/thought for you....if and when I'm ready to have a little Pol foal and I were to choose the straight russian route who would you recommend? Seen as you know the girl and what she can breed Nature is paramount for me I'd like to double up on Po's kind nature if poss PM me if you prefer...
Good to hear you have another Russian girl, any pics? Look forward to seeing the Ffatal baby Did you see the pic of Polka on my site. Biased of course, but I think she is stunning and she has mum's big ears for sure That's what happens when you have the relation 'Donka' in your pedigree!

Kofihorse - you're welcome
As for Neposeda, she was a remarkable mare, graded elite by the Russians who were very picky when it came to assessing breeding animals. She had 12 foals - 5 colts and 7 fillies - among them Namek and Nariadnaia mentioned by Jude, but also the famous and beautiful Naturs hitsa of whom a statue was made that stands outside the Tersk stud alongside a statue of Aswan. The studbook says Neposeda measured 155 cms so she was quite tall, too.
Neposeda
Neposeda with daughters ltr Neposeda - Naturs hitsa - Nesravennaja - Nemezida - Nega - Nariadnaia
Naturs hitsa (I have put an extra space in to avoid the computer from thinking that I am writing profanities and putting in a lot of stars instead)
Neposeda was also the dam of Nasmeshnik of whom I've posted pics in a previous post. His breeding career was cut tragically short when he died shortly after arriving to the States where he had been brought by Howard Kale. He had seen him at Horsey Island and liked him enough to bring him back. Unfortunately, he didn't have a chance to prove himself at Karho, but I believe Mr. Kale bought his full brother Namek as a replacement. From what I have read, it was Nasmeshnik that started Mr. Kales interest in the Russian Arabians.
As a matter of interest, Neposeda was 50% Crabbet through her paternal granddam Rissalma and her maternal grandsire Naseem.
