Arabianlover - just seen your post, DRUG was a fantastic horse and produced some outstanding offspring I remember your mare at the TH sale - didn't she have some scarring on her back - from a fire, methinks. So glad you have her, she's a very nice mare - good luck and hope she produces a super foal.
Will see if I have anymore of Drug |

HiMa Belle Your mare is gorgeous.Am I correct in thinking that she is full sister to Janet and Paul Currey's beautiful stallion, Piligrim. I must admit I had not seen many russian arabs until I visited their stud. After seeing their wonderful horses I am now converted. Andrea. |

Finally...after a lot of button pressing and head scratching....I've worked out how to post up photos !!
here is another Russian - Angelikah (Mascat - Akbura by Balaton, she is home bred, a race winner (in Poland) and a National Champion Mare (in France) a double which is rather hard to achieve and not getting any easier ! We did breed one other who managed both - Esplendor National Champion in the UK, curiously enough he was then sold to Tersk, where he won on the track as a two year old. We also owned Crusader who managed both wins in our hands, but we didn't breed him, and we bought in Grenlandia who had already acheived hers !
photo taken at dawn last week in France - she has a Final Shadow baby on board !!

I also have some oldies of Mascat himself. Mascat was one of my favourite stallions of all time and I wish we had had him with us before the age of 19 when he was rather battered and definitely set in his ways... He had a classic Russian pedigree by Aswan and out of Malutka (Salon - Monogramma). Mascat did an awful lot of shouting and was always fully prepared to meet members of the opposite sex, but it might surprise any of you who saw him to know that he liked to be turned out with the weanling colts and enjoyed being 'nanny'.
One of the massive recommendations of Russian horse is their 'dual purpose' nature, Mascat's son Normativ also stood in Britain for some time. He was winner and placed in 32 races and was a World Top Ten halter stallion. Mascat's grandson Karat is currently in the country - he is a Russian Derby winner and a World Top Ten stallion.
I added some photos of the second daughter of his my parents couldn't resist keeping - Mandolinn from the Kazra family. Also photographed last week. |

I have a Russian related fella here, Judals Raphael. He's fantastic, super sweet natured and so bright too! He's 5 in June and I've had him since he was 2, hopefully we will finally make it out and about this year!

Found this of Pakistan (Kumir - Panagia by Asawan) who stood with us for one season in 1993. He is a half brother to Balaton and is still alive in the UAE aged 29 this year. A lovely tempered horse and an excellent sire. |

Hi Liv, sorry no photos of Mascat in action, you can see from his joints he was pretty rickety when we got him and he was very stiff. Every now and again he showed us his Russian trot and it made us feel very regretful that we never saw him in his prime . We did get a video of him stomping properly but it isn't digital.
Hi Sasha, both of them get more and more like the old Aswan daughters every year - especially Mandolinn who is turning into one of my favourite photographic subjects !!

Thanks Emma. I can remember seeing him at Towerlands a few years back now and he still moved even with those poor old joints! |

Wow Emma, those mares are truly precious!!
Here's a couple more from the Russian treasure chest of olden days
First Pogremok,
Then Balaton - the horse of the century!
And third Baron of Tersk by Antey
All three of them great movers with body, power, and type!!

Another Russian fan here - what a fabulous collection of photographs. My endurance gelding Hajar is part Russian - his dam Polemika is by Aspect out of Pastoral by Topol (http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/hajar4). He definitely has the big trot - I've never sat on anything like it, even big warmbloods don't compare to the feeling of his power trot. Here's a piccie of him - he's just about to spook at the camera man. Photo courtesty of West End Photography.

My Khan has a line to Nasmeshnik but I must confess I am fairly ignorant of the Russian lines. I don't suppose anyone has a pic of him?
Khan has an amazingly big trot so I guess that's where it comes from! |
