Some info one Penalba -
*Penalba was a beautiful mare and earned the titles of US and Canadian National Reserve Champion Mare as well as World and European Junior Champion Mare.

One more of Penalba:
She produced 5 registered foals and had 15 grandfoals. Her offspring are: Nationals, 1982 gelding by Padron (produced 4 foals before gelded) Please LTD, 1984 mare by Salon (7 foals, 6 by Muscofir) Pelena, 1988 mare by Despekt (2 foals) Nurilana, 1989 mare by Padron (2 foals) Palladyn, 1996 gelding by Ludjin El Jamaal
I saw Please LTD in August 2007 and have some pictures of her on my other computer. Nurilana's name sounds familiar, I may have a picture of her as well. Will post when I get a chance! |

Hi GenghisKhan
Have you stolen my horse, BS Emira. You can tell they both have Russian blood, (just different gender).
Gusar Khan's face looks very much like Emiras mum, Energia. Wow |

LTD was a suffix used by Lasma, one of the major Arabian farms in the US during the 80's. Lasma became involved in a large number of Russian horses when they bought Stratmore's herd (Make-Believe Farms). |

Hi Misterei, Wel theire is a big difference. Your horse starts with the letter E and that is the letter of Esplendor, Spanisch. Almost all the Russians are in the pedigree of Gusar Khan but Esplendor is not. It showes also in the picture, élégance, fragile, genes of Esplendor, different than Gusar Khan. |

crabbet arabian stud book by archer pearson and covey page 303 tells us that aswan is linebred on nearly all old cabbet.priboj is line bred on rissla who was an outstanding mover.those early breeders who knew what they were doing fixed her prepotency for generations.i saw akbura loved her movement as i do some on this site.but some movement has changed.by trying to breed a level croup my opinion is we now have some arabs that look like an ostrich riding a bike and crooked tail carriage permantly over their backs. |

i always thought that arabs got their hocks well under their bodies and followed through with rythm and coordination |

Thank you for those pictures. I believe I'm right in saying Alicia was her last foal. Anatomy must be well into her twenties. |

Thank you. She has a lovely temperament too; like a child's pony in the stable. I am so lucky to have her.

Here is a nice link for some pictures of Aswan, (I apologise if ithas been included in the thread or if you have found it before).
http://aswan.site.voila.fr/
Once there, if you don't read French, click on Ses Photos, and then click on the link.
Enjoy
(PS I hope these were all taken on days when he was an Honorary Russian and not when he was a young Egyptian ) |
