Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself as I'm a new member to this site...! Although I have been trawling through it for ages before getting round to registering. I used to own an Arab some years ago and am now sharing an Arab - who has already made me become besotted with the breed! Merry Christmas to you and your horses, Kash x

Hi, thanks for getting back to me! The Arab I'm sharing is a lovely chestnut who has done a bit of everything and is now putting up with me sharing him! He's absolutely gorgeous with real character. The Arab I used to own was called Kashandra, hence my name Kash! She was a grey by Kashan (Ahmoun) out of Toyd Dryad. She was a lovely lovely mare with the most friendly loving temperament. Unfortunately I out grew her as she was 14.1hh but I managed to sell her to a friend of mine who promised she would never sell her which she never did. But she passed away last May at the age of 25, I still miss her. I'd love to find out more about her breeding so that perhaps sometime in the future (probably distant as student debt!) I could buy a horse who is related to her. I don't suppose you know anything about Kashan or Toyd Dryad? What are your horses like?

I don't i'm afraid but if you post on the tracing horses forum there are a lot of very knowledgeable people who could probably find out some info on her. Also if you go onto allbreedpedigree.com you can trace her family tree. How nice that you didn't lose touch with her.
I've got a grey crabbet mare who i've had since she was five and just hacked her but am starting to jump and do some dressage with her now at the age of 12 so she is finding it quite hard and so am I! I've also got a new forest pony and a little section A for my nephew. |

Hi Kash,
Great you have joined, hope you will find lines as informative and helpful as I do.
I got into Arabs quite late in life having never owned or ridden before. I have an 11 year old gelding "Freddie" we have had him since he was 3(my son first then me). He has taught me to ride and is my best friend. Thro lines and quite by accident I found his breeder, Libby Frost and she came to see him a couple of months ago. Iv'e yet to make the trip to meet his parents but fully intend to in the new year.
Kash sounds fantastic and it was great you were able to keep in contact with her. Hope you manage to find out more about her. I am sure you will find everyone here very pleasant and helpful.

Hi Kash
just wanted to say welcome!
I read on Texashighways post that you're aching after half an hours riding....me too, lol! I've been out of riding for about 6 years, apart from the odd lucky chance, but I recently backed my boy, and have found that even walking for 500m is enough to make me ache! Note to self - get fit soon! |

Hi Kash,
Afraid Im a bit of a whimp!! Freddie and I only go for gentle hacks. Learned as far as walk and trot and never progressed!! Love him to bits and we have great fun chasing around the sandschool playing games etc(on foot) when we're not out and about. Wish I learned years ago, would have loved to show him, he is stunning, but arent they all!!!!
What do you and the one you share get up to??

Hi Kash, big welcome to the site. With regards Kashandra - I have looked up my Stud Books and under Kashan (Ahmoun/Blue Gleam) there are only three pure breds listed for 1980 Blue Zephyr - grey filly out of Czarintha Kasba - ch colt out of Czareena Nashak - ch colt out of Lady Saranie in 81 Kashmiri - grey filly out of Lady Saranie and gr colt Kasmik out of Mikiah
are you sure Toyd Dryad was pure bred?
I'll keep searching.
Why not try posting on one of the search forums - "Where are they now" or New Owners needing info.
I'm sure someone will know something
Good luck |

Hi - thanks for being so welcoming! I've heard warnings from other members that this site is addictive, and it really is! Your fault Sarah! Jingo - thankyou SO much for looking, she wasn't a purebred though - 56.25% Arab so I suppose there's no way of tracking her? When I bought her I was told she'd been a broodmare until she was backed at 12years, so perhaps there might be some foals of hers out there somewhere? Its weird how legs ache after riding, I feel like such a wimp! I think it is getting better, although I hope I don't have to try and get on without a mounting block any time soon - far too stiff! Yay, the more messages I write, the more I get to see Sean Bean... the love of my life...!

Toyd is a prefix that turns up in riding ponies. It appears to be used by a lady of the name of Mrs S Lanz. I don't know if it is the same Mrs S Lanz that breeds sport horses/hunters under the prefix of Wellshead. If it is then she is based somewhere in Devon I think. Hope this helps. |
