Well done Joanna!
Q8 Who was offered the stallions Aziz and Mahruss but considered their price too high, and was summed up thus by Lady Anne Blunt "though he does not know a good horse when he see's it he ought to know how to behave"

Count J Potocki.....The Blunts offered to act as intermediaries in assisting him to purchase from Ali Pasha Sherif. The Pasha decided to sell the 2 stallions, Mahruss and Aziz II, but he was asking the price of £800, which the count considered ridiculous considering the horses' ages. He proposed 500 louis for both, but went off to India to see if he could find anything cheaper and more to his liking.
When he couldnt find anything better he decided he would pass through Cairo to conclude his business with the pasha if the horses were still for sale. He still quibbled over the price and was willing to offer 10-12,000 francs. Eventually, when he decided he would buy the horses the pasha had become fed up and refused to sell.

Not as hard as you might think, Lynda! The horse in Q11 is extremely famous and has already been identified in the "Test your Knowledge" thread. Don't let the fact that the photo is in colour (or the little dog) fool you into thinking that you don't know the horse. You do! A further clue, one of the two photo's was taken in the middle east and the other in europe, but perhaps not the way around that you might think!
