OK eyes down and listern up,

The cold war between East and West that dominated world affairs for 45 years was in full swing

It was the year President John F. Kennedy was assasinated.

During March the studios of Hanna - Barbera Productions, which produced such well loved cartoons as "The Flintstones", opened.

Roy Emerson and Margaret Smith won the Mens and Womens singles titles at the open Championships

Bob Jane won the Touring Car Championship driving his Jaguar Mark 11.

You would pay for a car in Pounds, Shillings and Pence

It was also the year that a young woman who cherished a childhood dream, embarked on a lifelong journey with her family.

Give me the YEAR ?

Name the Woman ?

Name the DREAM that came TRUE ?

Hi Bob

I think we need a clue as to the identity of this young woman - I'm guessing she has something to do with arabian horses, but that doesn't get me very far, does it

In the meantime, what about question 8 as posted further above??
Or is it toooooooooo hardddddddd for you

Hi Anne Love,

Yes it is an Arabian Stud, Clues.

Two of her foundation mares were purchased from Sir Clarence Legget.

She travelled the world nine times, studying Arabians.

More later,

Sorry I seem to have missed your´s

Ah Donna, I see you have been thinking along the same lines as me! I've not had a lot of luck finding a Sir Clarence Legget in the AHSB stud books if he was the breeder/owner of the Arabians that Bob mentioned. There is a G F B Liggett in the 1952 Vol and Dr C A Leggett of Australia in the 1966 Vol but a Sir Clarence Legget? Who he? (Not in Debretts either that I can find)

Over to you Uncle B.

Forgot to have a go at your Abbas Pasha question.

He had seven palaces by 1852 with the stables built in their near vicinty. He eventually owned three stables with close to 1000 Arabians and used to travel by camel to visit them.

Dr C A Leggett is the one I found, in Australia. He exported several to the UK, but not sure if he's the same chap that sold two horses to our mystery lady or not!!

Marion Richmond & her parents Mr & Mrs Peter Simon. May or may not be the right answer, but Sir Clarence Leggett's Oxford Stud in Queensland Australia is now the home of Bremervale Arabians Sir Clarence died in 2001

Sir Clarence Leggett comes up if you "Google" the name. If this mystery woman was a young lady in 1963 (teenager)? She would now be in her 50's, which hasn't helped me one bit. Got to get the books out.

Caroline,

You're absolutely right - my source was the article seen here http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/arabianhorse.htm and in this article Abbas Pasha is spelled Pacha, thus my reference to the spelling.

That's 5 points for you

Anne

Hi Mike,
Congratulations, well done, it is indeed Jill Toffs who founded Bremervale Arabians, and that was her dream, since then they have bred some fantastic horses, Jill brought in horses from England, Spain and from the USA came WN Dasjmir (GG Samir - Arawisja) WN Dasjmir´s contribution has been immens and has resulted in the once in a life time stallion Desperado who´s dame Bremervaile Aquarius combines the of the studs celebrated Spanish and English bloodlines.

What I don´t know is the relationship between Jill Toffs and Marrion Richmond, can you HELP on this ??

Regards
Bob

Hi Lynda,

Yes, the last question (Q 9) was answered by Mike who earned himself 5 glittering points

We are now anxiously awaiting the next question, knowing that when Mike puts it, it's probably a hard one to solve

Anne

PS: Anyone is of course welcome to put questions
