If you have read the ragwort thread here is my obseesive behaviour. I had once rented one field for a while that had a ragwort problem. Owner refused to allow it to be sprayed, which left pulling, and probably accounts for some of my aching joints.
This led to much electric fencing into small paddocks which were safe, and moving the fence line every day after clearing the area immediately in front of the new grazing. so much wasted effort. In some of the padocks I would hand spot spray individual plants, much easier as once dead they were easier to clear.
I now obsess on anyting yellow, I have to walk the field and remove it, the now rarer stray ragwort that has blown in, buttercups, oilseed rape, St John's wort, all of which have different levels of toxicity.
Vera must have sticky fly paper obsession, who else will admit their horse care has made them obsessive and what do they do?

Hmm...I'm a nut with ragwort and pull it up on city sidewalks ... This one's really tricky as I've had horses from such a young age it's hard to blame that association for my numerous eccentricities (well that's what I call 'em - everyone else says I'm just nuts) Have a passion for tight trousers and would wear jods CONSTANTLY if I could - sooo cumfy. Those are the only two I can think of that are truly horse related. This forum's far too 'proper' to hear about the others... |

Blimey(she says politely) this subject died an unworthy sudden death didn't it? Okay - lets switch it slightly to something that might draw a response.... I have this dream that I'll wake up one morning with Kevin Costner riding across my top paddock (in the altogether of course) and coming to a sliding halt he'll offer to help me muck out if I'll give him a pair of trousers to mask his blisters... I've a thing about receding hairlines...so shoot me. Anyone else brave enough to to contribute to this thread?I've a feeling it'll be more interesting than the stallion one.... |

I think I stopped obsessing over the man thing when I realised that most of my 'heros' of the silver screen were technically pensioners, and Patrick Swazie although he owns and rides an Arab would be like cradle snatching.
At least that's all I am admitting to. I had thought that people had bed making obsesssions with straw for their horses, now I wonder if those that do have a hidden agenda! |

Thought I had mailed you 'bout this Suyen. Can't take the landlord here no more no more - found a place in Wexford,INDOOR SCHOOL (Huge) plus ROUND PEN!!!Clean and beautifully maintained/fenced paddocks, stream along the bottom, drinkers in the others.Did I "mind" if the owner topped dressed the paddocks...did I mind if he borrowed cattle to clean them up every now and then? It's a former Western Riding Centre that went bust when the yanks lost their nerve about flying. The lady who was looking for Western tack?I may be able to help.It even has a PA system - so I'll be able to train my horses for Towerlands! 6 stables at the back of the school plus attached hay/straw barn(all under the same roof)-muck heap 2 yards away - and all for the equivalent of £125 a week - that includes accom in the shape of office,2 beds, kitchen, sitting rm,bathroom,2 toilets also in the barn- go on throw up now... |

Haven't you noticed that the US idea of a perfectly matched couple is a grandad with a bimbette on his arm? going by that I'd have to exhume any potential new partner. |

Oh dear Pat -b+t or what? I haven't given up on the idea of a perfect partner - I've had plenty of them - that are perfect for their time. When I have the time there'll be another - and another...They don't have to be for life. Some other mug can darn their socks.Always said that I'd marry when I met a man with bigger b...s than I've got.Stopped looking for that 20 yrs ago. |
