I am sure there must plenty of Dhruv stock around as he belonged to Lord and Lady Moyne. I am sure they used him alot and he was born in 1979.

I believe he was particularly good at producing endurance horses.

Dhruv is at the Biddesden stud ( breeders and owners of Tamarillo )in Hampshire. I have been looking for one of his offspring for a long while to bring on for endurance as he has produced very good stock in the past. I can't find one unfortunately and the stud do not have anything suitable so if anybody knows of a suitable one for sale please let me know.

Hi
I have a 2yo bay part bred arab Dhruv colt he has the looks and manners to die for. If i hear of anything rachel I will let you know, there is a yearling colt this way but my endurance freind has looked at it and said no way its conformation is not very good and its feet have never been trimmed. I shall be standing my colt at stud next year and he is covering a 3 very different mares this year, he is out of my former international 15/16 tb mare burrowshot lass

Drongo, who is by Dhruv and bred at Biddesden, has been with us for 14 years. He has won affiliated show jumping, open Hunter Trials, 8 races and also does endurance (competing at Plumpton this weekend). All Dhruv offsrping seem to be good at jumping and horses bred at Biddesden seem to be brilliant all-rounders. Drongo's offsrping have also been successfull jumping, racing an in endurance. Do not like to blow our own trumpets but Drongo deserves it and Biddesden breeds amzaing horses.

Drongo has certainly been an amazing horse and I quite agree that they breed horses to do the job at Biddesden. Although they could not provide me with a Dhruv boy or girl I still bought a lovely gelding from them ( Algonkwin x Sakuntala ) who is being brought on slowly in his endurance career in the hope that he will follow on from my 100 miler mare Tara's Dream. I have often thought of putting her to Dhruv but I expect Dhruv is getting on a bit now but it could have produced an interesting endurance horse!!

Hi Rachel
They are still using Dhruv at stud, I would of used him again if I wasn't using one of the ones I ride. There are also lots of Dhruv sons standing at stud, all of them different types but good performers, my boy is standing at stud next year and he is of the sports horse type

Hi Kirsty
Thanks for the info. It's good to know that Dhruv is still being used. If I breed from Tara I would like it to be to a pure bred as she has no arab blood ( wc x tb ) and carries quite a bit of muscle.
I bet your boy looks handsome and will turn into a very useful adult. Do you intend to bring him on for endurance? Perhaps I'll get to see him some day.
If you hear of any offspring up to 7yo please email me off line
Thanks again
Rachel

Hi rachel
yes I do intend on doing endurance with him thats what he was bred for hopefully he has his mums stamina. When he was born i had my greatest wish which was a bay colt. he is everything we could of wanted and more, if there are any stalion parades next year i will take him and I'm counting the months until he can do his first pleasure ride. I've never had a stallion before but have the backing/help of Sarah Coombs the endurance vet (it is her who has found 2 of his wives this year), Tara will be nice with a pure bred, the only drawback i've found is that it is so long before you can compete the homebred ones, but hopefully it will be worth it (The vets words when she first saw him were you are going to beat the **** off the sheikhs one day). if I hear of anything I will let you know, freinds have just bought a sisyrinchium mare for there 12yo daughter and are totally hooked on arabs, they are putting the kids new forset that they have outgrown in foal to billy as well

Hi Kirsty
I remember the Sisyrinchium mare Ballota ( Dhruv grandaughter ) as I went to see her last year but she had recently injured herself. A nice little nare that I still have on video. Interesting to read that she is doing well in her early endurance career - no doubt she will continue to do well and her young rider will have a great deal of fun. Definately a YR prospect for Sue B !! I hope to be going to Lindum as well so perhaps see you up there? We are looking for another rider for the 40km x 4 relay?
Rachel

Hi Suyen
Thanks but he is too young for me. I bet he is gorgeous though.

Symphytum (Dhruv x Sakuntala)(bay stallion foaled 1996) has been my pride & joy since his purchase from Biddesden as a yearling. His competition highlights include Overall Novice Ridden Champion HoCoN 2001, 1st Prelim.Dressage AHS National Show & Member of winning team 2000,3rd Novice Ridden stallions National Show 2000 plus numerous wins & placings in hand and under saddle. Unfortunately he was injured in mid 2001 and is only now returning to the show ring.

This year he has been to two shows achieving Overall Ridden Champion Norfolk & Suffolk AHS Group SHow 2005 and 1st & Res Champion In hand Suffolk County plus 3rd in Ridden class.

Far more important than any show ring achievement is his affectionate & genuine temperament, always trying his best. Before his injury he was proving a talented jumper. If you have half as much fun with your Dhruv offspring as I have had with mine you're in for a great time!!

All the best

Hi Angela,
I have a full sister to your boy - Salsola - she is a fleabitten grey and I bought her from Finn as a 4 yr old, 2 years ago, she won her first Nove Mares Ridden "C" show entered, and now I have fun doing Endurance with her. She is the most wonderful mare - the kindest possible and we have upgraded to Intermediate and shortly to become Advanced, all in 2 short seasons. I love her to bits, would never part with her.

Hello Annie

It's great to hear that Salsola is going so well. I saw her in 2002 when I visited the stud and thought that she would make a lovely ridden mare. The Dhruv/Sakuntala mating has produced such consistant
quality and temperament - I was attracted to the cross initially because of Sisyrinchium's attitude and movement.

Good luck for the season. Hope to see you & Salsola in the event reports.
