My partner's mother has just acquired a 3 y.o filly, Petit Noir (that should make Bridie laugh.. We seem to be collected Arabs at an alarming rate over the last 6 months and she started it!). She is by Khairouan who I know is a racing sire but that's all I know. I've not heard of the dam either but the spelling could be wrong. All information gratefully recieved on either/all.
Viny De Passerat is by Dormane ( Manganate x Mandore) out of Venus De Syrah (Passem x Veronica Al Mauray) I believe she was born in 1994.
I´m sure you know that Khairouan is by Cheri Bibi (Baroud III x Nevada II) out of Khaddouj (Haroun x Jawahir)
This means that Petit Noir is predominantly French breeding. She does have Haroun as a great grand sire so there is some Crabbet in there too but only 12.5%!!
This is a different Haroun, Khaddouj was bred in Morocco and her sire Haroun is of Egyptian lines. Very good race lines to have, unfortunatly Khairouan is now deceased. Dormane is a very popular sire in the racing world, he covers over 100 mares each season! regards Barb
Thanks for that info. I've also found out that Viny De Passerat was covered by Khairouan at Conkwell Grange but they think they sold her at Ascot... I'll check my sale catalogue when I get home.
"Mother-in-Law" recently lost her 30 year old home bred 3/4 arab mare was was hankering for a replacement - hence the purchase of Petite Noir. I'm not sure what she will do with her but she's bred several ponies who compete in the New Forest point-to-point and also drive so I think she'll have a very varied education!!
Hi Mandy, yes Rose is very well and an absolute angel. She has to be the easiest horse I have ever owned in every way. She is currently babysitting a friends mare whose foal has just been weaned - her own waistline is ever increasing and its hard to believe she still has 4 months to go. We're all very excited at the imminent arrival!!
Its so nice to know she has such a lovely home, you must keep us updated with news. I had to laugh when you said about her waistline...she looked fit to burst when you bought her. Will you be bidding in the stallion auction for her next husband?
Compared to now, she was positively svelt when I bought her! She already has a date with the delicious Psynergy arranged for 2005 but we might bid for a blind date for one of the others..... (ohhhh where does it stop?!)
