I wonder if anyone can help? freinds of mine have just bought a three year old part bred colt, he has a passport from the pleasure horse society that gives his breeding as being by Celtic Shadow (arabian) x Aros Serenade (welsh). but there are no registration papers with him, they would love to have him registered to show in PBA class once he is gelded, but dont know how to go about finding the info on parentage. The breeder info on the passport is H. Morgan Carmarthenshire, Wales. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Emma
Celtic Shadow is registered with the AHS. His sire is Sollum (Sudeir x Nasam) out of Tashmar (Fancy Shadow x Tessra). Celtic Shadow is Chestnut and born in 1991.
Your first line would be to phone Windsor House to find out if he is in fact registered. If not, and if he is not registered with any other breed society, you are going to have to get a covering certificate from the stallion owner to verify that his horse did infact cover Aros Serenade four years ago. They may be able to give you the details of the stallion owner's address for contact. Good luck. Let me know how you get on.

hi Lynda
My freinds have been in contact with the ponys previous owner she seemingly has some more paperwork for him so there may be registration documents or a covering certificate or something!! I have managed to track down the owner of the stallion, have passed on the info and they are going to call her tomorrow, when they get the rest of his paperwork. thanks for you help and I will keep you posted on developments.

Hi Emma
Do you know the name of the colt, as I have stud books covering the period.
Give me a shout.

Hi lynda
The colt dosent seem to be registered, they got the covering certificate today, it hasent been sent to the AHS.
Can they still register him now after all this time he was born 2001?
The stallion is registered as its an AHS covering certificate.
info would be appreciated as I know nothing about this as I dont breed
Many thanks

Yes, they can still register him, but will have to pay a slightly higher fee. If, however he is registered with another breed society, all that is need is the original certificate which the AHS will overstamp, for a small fee.
If this isn't possible, they need to phone the registration department at Windsor House, and ask for a form to register a 3/4yr old part-bred. This form should give all details, but it would propably be worthwhile to ask the relevant questians whilst on the phone. i.e. Is the covering certificate sufficient, and what is the cost?
Lots of luck |
