About 10 days ago i noticed a few little bumps above Fantasy`s tail & then last tuesday they started to spread all over her some are bumps & some are like zig zags (welts)! They are very sensative but after a couple of days she ends up with small scabby pimples that feel really itchy ! I`ve moved her electric fence incase she`s eating something that doesn`t agree with her , i`ve washed her fly rug , bathed her ,shes had Prednisilone (steroid tabs )& they made her alot better for a day or so ! Jazzi was covered with them in March but they dissapeared in a few days ! I`ve tryed anti histamine tablets aswell as Aloe Vera gel & steriod cream & im at my wits end ,the wierd thing is her daughter is on the same grazing ,sleeps on the same shavings in their barn & shes fine & her skin is much more sensitive than her mums ! I phoned the vets yesterday & they said they could give her an intravenious cortisone injection if it doesn`t improve ,i`ll have to get them out tomorrow as theres just no improvement !
Here are the bumps covered with Aloe Vera

Ahh poor baby, they do look uncomfortable My mare had something like this a few years ago. I kept wiping them over with witch hazel and gave her some antihistamines. They did go down eventually (I think it took about a week)
Hope she is feeling better soon. x |

The vet gave her a intravenious cortisone jab & is sending me some pred tablets in the post ! I`ll be paranoid about her getting laminitis now with all these steriods ... Luckily shes on a bare patch ! |

I totally understand Sarah as I have been through the same thing recently with Dennis. I still haven't got to the bottom of his mysterious itch. He didn't come out in the same sort of lumps though, his were much smaller but he also has loads of small scab like clusters. All that is gone now but he is still itchy.
I've covered him in Apple Cider Vinegar as someone has suggested it might help the PH of his skin. At this stage I will try almost anything but its too soon to tell if its helped or not yet.

hi vera , i did think of you & Dennis when these errupted , she gets these huge lumps & after a couple of days they go down & leave lots of scabby areas ...but then more errupt & so on God its so annoying not knowing whats causing them ! Have just heard that a Welsh B who`s entered for Royal Cornwall on friday wont be going because hes covered in lumps aswell , his owner thinks it could be the buttercups |

Not so sure about that! Dennis was lumpy when he was in his winter field which doesn't have a buttercup in sight. He is now in the summer field with loads of buttercups and no lumps! |
