Don't be silly, of course they won't, it is the "easy targets" such as us who are forced to pay.

I wonder if it will help prevent people building up herds that are too much for them and neglect follows? They'd think twice about buying/taking on more horses if they knew they'd have to pay tax. |

I would like to ask one question, where is all this leading, it seems that blanket decisions are made with out thought or consideration for the long term effects, on the horse owing or breeding community. How could this tax be enforced if we decide not to pay? |

Methinks Horse Owner/Breeders will treat this "blanket decision` in a like manner and themselves, make a blanket decision.....NOT TO PAY THE TAX!!!!
May well cost the government more money to try to enforce payment of this ridiculous Tax, than the income of same would be?? Stupidity IMO
Make more sense if Government, STOPPED paying out all the corrupt politicians, the "allowances expenses and Frills".......they are well enough paid as it is!!! and the amounts they have fraudulently claimed, would probably amount to more than that which would be clawed in from a Horse Tax !!

scary thing is the effect is this is going to have on the horses!!!!! I have read about horses being dumped or just left because of the credit crunch!!!!! and yes the only way is for everyone to stand up and say NO and I mean everyone even if they only have one horse, they cannot jail everyone but I suppose they can conviscate?????? horses suffer again, it breaks my heart as most people struggle to keep their horses and give them their best and they are beaten even harder with the preverbiable stick |

It seems to me that horses are agricultural animals when it suits them. Does this now mean that if you buy land wich has an agricultural tie you can put only horses on it? They will probably want it both ways. |

Maybe this is the chance to insist if they are going to foist taxes on horses as agricultural animals that we get the same benefits as farmers! Tied houses are just the start, they get way more tax breaks than anyone else, it would help riding schools and livery yards too, as they wouldn't have to pay such exhorbitant rates! |

Ridiculous
And slightly off subject - 4p a chicken??? I have 8 chickens which will cost me 32p. Is it really going to be cost effective for Defra to collect that?
