Hi all I'm new to this wonderful site, Ive been trying for ages to get onto it, but have experiencing probs with my pc, it's having a midlife crisis!!! I've posted a few things, but i thought it was time to introduce myself, I live in Cornwall, am a widow with with two small kiddies, aged 4 and 3. I have three horses, Rosa, my elderly polish WB x arab mare; who saved my life after my husband passed away 15 months ago. Barramundi Spice, a 2 yo chestnut filly of unknown origin who was at my yard, abandoned. Last and by no means least, my 6yo arab x newforest gelding, he is rose grey and called Talkland Mr Bean, Tahj is his stable name. We had our first endurance ride at Minions Moorland on sun, he was a star, he could have carried on, but we were on the pleasure ride. We now have our log book, etc and plan to do more rides. sun was a brill day, full of emotion for me, as my late husband and I had planned to do endurance rides together, I must admit I had more than a few tears in my eye as we came through the finish....... The more the merrier. On this site you can be down and there are always plenty of people who are there to bring you back up again, sounds like you've just had a tough time but have lots to look forward to. Congrats on the endurance start, still dreaming of getting back in the saddle for the pleasure rides. |

Hi Sharon, I am also new to this site & cyber space but am slowly getting the hang of it. I have 4 children aged 16, 14, 11 & 18 months so I know what its like managing horses and children. It must be very hard for you especially now you don't have your husband to help you. Have your children been bitten by the horse bug and if so do they help or hinder. My youngest, would rather spray the stable doors with the hose and empty the feed bins out. My husband is usually only around 2 weekends per month as he travels a great deal abroad so it can be quite a juggling act organising horses and children. All credit to you for starting the endurance riding. I wish to the best of luck in your future rides. Nicky Napper |

Hi Sharon and Nicola
Another Nix! Welcome to arabianlines, it's a lovely place. I have two children, one of whom has disabilities, so I too know what it's like juggling children, horses and work.

Hi again Thankyou so much for such a warm and friendly welcome, this website and forum is superb!!!! Kirsty, I am so sorry to hear of your your loss, I don't know your age, but i lost my dad when I was ten, I'm always here for a chat.... Good luck on the team selection ride, I'm sure you'll be selected, and your dad will be 'with you'. Just before I set out on the ride, I could have sworn Damian was sitting in my jeep.... 'having a fag!!!!' Would love to meet up, we missed out on the west moor, and the challacombe, but have applied for the Brento and will be applying for the Quantock and Exmoor rides, I just hope I can pass my driving test soon!!! Nicky, my kiddies love making up a feed for Tahj, and i must say, he prob prefers them to do it, as I have him on a diet!!!!!!! Jennifer wants a pony!!! Peter is into mucking out, I shall encourage him!! It would be really helpful if these rides had creches!!!! oh, and a bar!!!!
Love to all Sharon Ps just posted a few piccies of us on2 the album thingy.... |
