I dont know how many of you will remember my boy, but there was a long post on her last year about him, he & had his brother had been entered for Llanybydder sales, he had breathing issues but regardless of that we took the plunge & bought this lovely boy. I would like to say a big thanks to Arabianlines for pointing me in his direction, if it wasnt for this forum i wouldnt of had the pleasue of owning this lovely boy for the last 10 months. he was a real star & such a lovely lovely horse. Sadly he was found dead in the field this morning, the vet thinks he had a tumour that burst, i wont go into details, but i cant help but kick myself for not realising something was so wrong sooner. Hindsight is a wonderfull thing, i know there would have been nothing the vets could have done, but at least we could have prepared for this. Ive never lost a horse before & i feel so guilty & so numb. Sorry for waffling
RIP Al Jihad aka AJ.

So sorry to hear this news but try to be comforted by the knowledge that he had a loving home with you. As we all know, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you would have noticed if there had been any warning of this sad event. |

That is so sad, but he was so lucky to have spent these last months with you, and it sounds as if his end was quick. Well done for rescuing him---you are feeling pain now so he didn't have to. |

With you and your care he found his heaven on this earth over the last 10 months, he is now grazing at peace in Rainbows end. Big hugs and don't be too sad.

Oh what to say.....Im so very sorry for you. But be sure AJ had a wonderful 10 months with you, loved and wanted, he would have galloped to Rainbow Bridge knowing he was loved. The short time he was with you were probably the happiest in both your lives, you should be proud that you gave him that time.
My thoughts are with you Mandy xx |

So sorry to hear your news. Please don't blame yourself, you gave him a lovely home and he was clearly dearly loved. You go through a huge roller coaster of emotions when you lose a horse but it does get easier as time passes. That old cliche of time heals! .............. thinking of you so much at this time. Went through this myself with my mare in March and I know how much it hurts. x |

RIP, AJ.
Please don't beat yourself up over not noticing that there was anything wrong with him as there probably wasn't anything to notice. I recently lost my old gelding, he was almost 32 and I had had him for 29 and a half years so I knew him inside out. When he went it was very sudden. I came home from work and got the horses in and gave them their tea. Sammy had the run of the yard and always followed me to the feed room when I was taking the buckets back and asked for some more. He always got two or three more little bits of feed. He needed a lot of feed to keep his weight on so it was no problem giving him some exta. That night he didn't ask for more, first sign. Then he gept going to the gate to go back down the field, second sign, he never did that. He then seemed as if he was going to lie down in the yard so I had to shut him in the stable. Third sign. He the started to colic and within a few hours he had to be PTS. If he had stated later I would not have seen anything or if he had been bad earlier I would have been at work. It was just lucky that it happened when it did and I was there. Until he had eaten his tea he was exactly as normal.
AJ was a lucky boy to have had 10 happy months with you and it was great of you to take him on knowing that he had breathing issues. There are times we all wish that we could turn the clock back, none more so than me at the present time, but we can't. We have to move on and keep going.
I am sure he loved you dearly.
