I was going to pm Madeleine at Arabian Emporium to thank her for her help and advice to me with regard to showing our mare this weekend.
But, she has been sooo lovely I just wanted to tell you all (what you already know!!) - she is just a star!!
Not only did she give me lots of tips, but the items I needed (very reasonably priced!!) were here amazingly quickly which meant that I was able to wash my mare during the only two hours of sunshine that we have had all this week!!!
Now all I need is someone to help me with my nerves, crippled body and the weather....
Oh, and how I'll be able to get my two young kids, the dog, the other two horses, husband, me and the mare organised so that we can leave the island on the 7am ferry!!!!!
Wish us luck!!!

Well, it's been a week since my Show outing and it's only now that I can post about it....
Naseekah, our mare was wonderful, she loaded and travelled so well. She looked amazing (thank you Madeleine!) lots of hard work had paid off... We left home before dawn and were very excited about the day to come....
The Show was at Ayr last Saturday, and anyone there could testify that it was a washout - rain not seen since Noah!!!
Well, what happened was that I let my mare down big time (again!!).
Going into the ring I felt my chest tight but I was really looking forward to it and I felt that this could be her day. I'd had a bad virus which affected me for the last couple of months, sort of pneumonia like, it had knocked me for six. That is why getting her ready for it had really been hard work for me. But, I felt up to the task in hand.
Due to the weather, we kept her in the trailer until the last minute. This was a mistake, as the first thing she saw was an illuminous umbrella lunging towards her!! This put her on her toes...
We trotted along the length of the ring and my lungs just shut down, that's the best way I can describe it. We were pulled in first quite quickly, but I was just not taking anything in. I felt as if I was drowning unable to breathe, really scary....
I didn't show her at all and must have looked like a complete fool to all who saw me. It was taking me all my will to just stay upright!!
The judge was really nice and said lovely things about Naseekah, but said that I hadn't shown her at all. Couldn't even answer him, just nodded in agreement!!
Well done to the girl who got first, sorry that I couldn't say "well done". We were the only two in the mare class.
We just came out of the ring and my OH was so nice to me that I wanted to cry. He got her loaded up and we headed back home soaked through and me feeling very sorry for myself....
Got home and came on here. I saw the good luck wishes and felt such a waste of space.
Then.... I saw that Egbert had lost her husband and that put it all into perspective. She was so kind and helpful to me, giving me advise on my horses and my heart goes out to her for her dreadful loss.
Thanks for all the good wishes, hopefully we will manage another day.......
I am sorry that this is such a long post... well done to all who stayed to the end!!

Thanks Moatside,
My goodness, I did go on a bit!!!! She didn't behave herself as I know she can, as she was just too fresh. This was our fault and I gave her no direction whatsoever.
I had a battery of blood tests done yesterday and I have an appointment with Doctor today to hopefully get to the bottom of this. It was quite scary and very debilitating. Woke up at 3 last night and wondered if it could be my heart rather than lungs (over active imagination!!!)
OMG... I've turned my thread from a thanks to Madeleine into a moan about my health problems... sorry folks!!!
On a much more positive note, I had a lesson with Morag Higgins last Sunday.... Wow... But that's for another thread, maybe!!!
Best of luck to all you guys out there showing this week. It is good fun, it is good fun, it is good fun, it is good fun!!!!!!

Completely unrelated but I thought I'd ask as I'm looking for a mare with a similarly sounding name as yours. How old is your girl and has she had a foal at all (unregistered foal)??
Well done for showing despite not feeling well!!! |

Hi Shah,
My mare Naseekah is 16 years and 2 days old!! I bred her and her dam is Bint Nefous and sire is Aurelian. She has a daughter called Buffy, posh name is Boudicca, (well-named!!) and she is registered.
I do hope that you find your mare and thanks for nice remarks!!!
