Hi all did this ride yesterday, I new ride for me, it was wonderful never knew Doncaster had sooo much riding, the council has been wonderful to horse riders converting old mining areas into landscaped parks, very fast ride may I add. Send my best wishes to the poor lady who fell off, we passed as she was lying on ground awaiting the ambulance it looked like a broken hip or leg by the way she was down, the brave lady was still smiling through the pain, we asked if we could help but she already had someone waiting with her. Surprisingly when we got to the end of the paths down a road the ambulance was there that was fast, I was a little alarmed by the ambulance lady a rather large lady said I am not walking all that way, if she fell off the horse can't she ride it to here! Not very charitable, in the end I think they managed to get the ambulance through a gate or field. Lets hope this lady is well and makes a speedy recovery.

Other than this incident it was a wonderful ride well marked really enjoyable and fast, but the weather decided to curse us and I am sure it hail stoned on us, its July!!!!

My other arf enjoyed the pleasure on our kaz who didn't like a very low bridge at the start and I got vetted out very slight stiffness causing her to look lame, I gave her two weeks off rides just hacking looks likes it does not help a horse with early signs of DJD to have time off, oh well the ride was that good I was still smiling and couldn't wait to get out of the soppy clothes, but of course the horse come first. At least it was sunny when I got home and I could dry everything on the line.

That person that was with her was me!!

Re the ambulance lady - she came up across the wrath of Kerry when the ambulance finally got to the casualty LOL. I was a first aider, the woman who fell off was a first aider, the friend she was riding with was a first aider and Kerry is also a first aider. The lady was in quite some pain, and had a suspected fractured ankle, plus the horse has rolled on her so she could have had more injuries that we didn't know about. We all agreed that she shouldn't be moved, and that we should wait for the ambulance because they would have the proper equipment and pain relief.

When the ambulance arrived, the same lady that you refer to said to Kerry that we should have either loaded her into a 4x4 and driven her to the road, or we should have carried her (???!!!!!). Yeah right.

Apart from that we had a good ride. I did the 65km with Orrie and got very very very wet, but we were successful.

Oh if I had known, you were parked next to me and other arf, two greys, white box, I though I recognised you from South Yorkshire ride, I was admiring the little pony tied to your wagon with the white face and white eye, cute.

Now I know you esther I will say hello next time, Yeah we were very wet too, back the time you sort the horses out, vetting etc and then getting them settled again, the cold sets in, God glad I didn't have to go out again, good fast ride though.

Did you see the lady come off, was it a train? or did the horse just slip/trip?

That pony was Caroline Atkinson's old mount - Ziggy Stardust - and he is a bit of a superstar. I think his photo is on the EGB site. He now does RDA work but he has a new 9yo loaner too whose first pleasure ride was yesterday. He's now really got the bug and spent all the way home talking about when he's doing the next one and raving about Ziggy.....

I didn't see the rider come off - they were literally just round the corner ahead of me. I think they were just trotting steadily round the corner and the horse lost its footing on the gravel. Fingers crossed she's OK.

Hi Esther...just butting in to say John Parkin and his wife Janet parkin, say HI to you. Aparently you rode with John recently at one of the rides down South. John and Janet breed pure bred Highlands, and have got them up to Gold series. Trouble is they look SO fit, not the usual buttery show pony...that people often think they are part breds.Anyway John said you were great to ride with...so just passing the message on.
Lets hope Lindum goes more quietly than your recent ride above!
