Only just seen this post. I'm sitting here crying, its made me so sad. I'm glad that you gave her the best life possible at the end, she will have known you loved her by your actions. Poor little cat RIP.

Oh Gerri how sad
You do get attatched even though you shouldnt. At least you helped the poorlittle mite out when it was alive and you should be proud of doing just that.
I am the same, I take in all the waifs and strays, the last one being a white cat that was pitifully thin and we looked after it much to the annoyance of my cat and in the end he has gone to live with my Mum and she loves him dearly.
he is here at the moment on his holidays and going back tomorrow when she returns. Gerrycat is not amused!!!

Ah, thank you everyone, I am afraid that I do get attached to everything that knows cold, hunger and cruelty, I am not so good with people, but love all animals and it did break my heart especially knowing how she had survived against all the odds, it has been as cold as minus 9 some nights in January and yet as soon as we were getting somewhere with her, (her coming and knowing she could get in the tack room and food) this happens, and having to bury her in the ground, the very place we were trying to get her out of, for me was heartbreaking, still, as you say we did try our best for her, but its so strange to know that I shan't see her trying to evade us or hiding in the woods, spooky thing is we found my cat sitting on her grave the next morning, at first I thought he was trying to dig her up and shooed him away, but he hadn't he was just sat on it, I am convinced he knows exactly what it is......... again thank you for your kind words and recognising her existance, for me it makes her short life a little more worthwhile, thank you everyone |
