I'm so sorry to hear this. Its an awful double blow to receive.
I too have a Crusader (Madaba) and I know how they work their way into your heart with their funny ways and loving natures.
I do hope your luck changes and that things start to go right for you.
Best wishes, Mary x |

I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone - those of you who know and personally over the years and many of you who have never met us. My husband Nick is out of hospital and making steady progress, so the loss of his mare was a devasting blow. Shazehras' dam Shimsha is due to foal to Hussain (Crusader/Heloua) and is due anytime - lets all prayer that everything goes well.
Thanks again everyone I am overwhelmed by everyones good wishes.

Hi Melanie Sorry to hear this. Not what you or Nick need right now. As I've said if you need a day off just to rest or sleep let me know - happy to muck out wash buckets and fill nets for you - just let me know.
RIP Shazehra and baby. |

Hi Alison Thanks again, I think you may get fed up if I ask you to travel from Newcastle to fill haynets up at 5am! Have managed to 'guilt' son James into filling the haynets up when he gets home from school - have Thomas on water buckets - spare them the turning out and mucking out! Young stallion Guisburn Zhalim (Shazehras son!) jumped into the front garden from the yard on Thursday last week, contenting himself looking at the mares over the, ha-ha (ditch round the garden, very fortunate to have one!) - James (unhorsey) managed to convince him to come back into the yard - with food !!
Shimsha (Shazehras dam) has waxed up a couple of hours ago so I am sat in the bedroom keeping a very tired and fed up Nick company, watching equi-vision - fingers crossed we have a healthy mare and foal in the next 24 hours!!

Hi Melanie - I'm sitting here drinking a cup of tea before braving the elements ! It's very windy, raining & cold here at the moment but I am thinking of you & Nick, has your mare foaled yet? Hope everything goes well for you, do let everyone know - exciting (and nerve wracking) time for you but I'm sure it will be worth it

I have just spoken to Melanie and she has had a bit of good luck at last. Shimsha had a beautiful, large filly last night and everything went well. Melanie will let you know more tonight.

Hi everyone At 11.30pm Shimsha produced a beautiful - huge - filly foal who is the image of Guisburn Shazerah, her daughter we lost last weekend. As this filly is by Hussain (Crusader/Heloua)I suppose this makes her a 3/4 sister so it should not be a surprise. Shimsha is very foal proud - Nick watched delivery from inside the house on camera, which is very frustrating - phone to the ready in case I needed some help! Shimsha normally deposits foal and then eats hay - as if to say, 'go on, I've had you, get on with it!' - this time she was all mum, and wanted the baby all to herself....back into the house 2am, bath and bed 2.30am - alarm 5.00am to feed abd turn out the herd, take boys to school and go to work! Baby has made up for a lot with her arrival, and I will post some pics soon! Melanie & Nick Guisburn Arabians

Sorry Alison (8.35pm) just sat to check email - and will be going out to pick James up in a moment. Would loved to have seen you - I am taking next Friday off, and the following week to have a break, will you be free sometime then? Nick has been a bit poorly today so I feel like 'Bily no Mates' Melanie |

Nick was admitted back into hospital on Sunday evening seems like he has an infection!!! On a brighter note the filly foal is doing well, now out with the herd, have to think of a name soon.
