Hi, For the first time ever I used a grooming block, feels a bit like pumice. All I can say is WOW,I don't know how it works but it wa brill.I used it on a horse that didn't seem to have that much coat to lose and I couldn't believe how much hair came out.He is a black boy and after a quick flick over with a brush his coat was gleaming. Hi Angel,
I use a grooming block too, they are brilliant and not expensive either, and you can re-fresh them by just scraping on the wall. I swear my mine! Hope to see you soon (12th April) Georgina and the ever growing Rafa XX |

I know a few people who have used a Furminator (google it) and think they are the best thing ever. They certainly look good! |

Grooming block for me too! There is nothing to beat them. Merlyn is molting like mad just now and I'm off today to get another couple of blocks to assist him! |

Echo grooming block and shedding blade. also useful fine toothed dog comb for those heavily moulting and the pin type dog groomer used gently also does o god job. Rubber curry used in circular motion gets a lot out too. |

Yes we have a furminator, it's amazing, gets so much hair out!! Also use a rubber curry comb in a circular motion, that works really well too especially on the rump! |

Hmmm, silly me, I've had a Lincoln Grooming Block in my tack room for years and never used it; it was recommended by a girl in the lorry next to mine at a show one day... Shall try it tomorrow.
One thing I MUST say is how wonderful it is to have this fantastic weather, moulting horses and the feel of early summer. It's definately worth being covered in white hairs!! |

Grooming blocks are brill!
But what I've found works as well if they're moulting heavily is a pair of heavy duty marigolds - that way, your horse gets a lovely massage/scratch as well! The hairs stick to the rubber and it comes out in lumps!!
Jack loves it |

Hi Kelly, never thought of that, I used to use Marigold on my carpet at home, I have a thick pink carpet and a black hairy dog, and it worked wonders. I will try Marigolds on Shah he has such a thick coat and its coming off in handfuls. I still have my grooming block tho, I swear by them. Angel, Let us know how you get on with the block

A full clip! We did my old guy last weekend - he had a very thick coat and wasn't even starting to molt. Couldn't face the thought of weeks and weeks of scruffy coat and being covered in hair so got the clippers out instead. He now looks sleek and fab and not the unloved, furball he looked before |

Two of our mares have been doing it for each other the last few nights and have mouth fulls of fur when we get them in.
We also use a curry comb which does get lots out daily. Also when we take their pyjamas off in the morning they turn and scratch themselves with their mouths, and I just use my hand and rub vigorously in the same spot, they love it. I find this time of the year grooming is the best form of join up there is, no chasing them away or walking around, just a relaxing rub, and something big and ginger to lean on |
