I drove over to see Shadowfax yesterday , he`s the pony i bred when i used to live in Ireland , i taught kids to ride on him on a Saturday & then i`d take him to shows or Hunter trials on Sundays, you`d have never thought it was the same pony ....a total transformation!
We even tried pony racing once & won!
I loaned him to my friend Sandi when he was nearly 22 after her horse died , she shows him in veteren classes & has alot of fun with him & she assures me he has a home with her for life
Shadow will be 27 in May , you`d never think it to look at him especially when he took off across the field with Sandi yesterday !

Then Rachel & i walked across the fields & visited Tarac an Arab gelding i owned in 1990, he will be 28yrs old in June , he didn`t have a very good start in life, he`d been cooped up in a stable 24/7 & was rescued by his previous owners as a very thin 4yr old stallion .
It was so nice to see them both looking so well & so loved !

Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures with us, it is so up-lifting to see wonderful older horses that have been well cared for and are still enjoying life, and looking so well. It must make you very happy to see them and knowing that they are still looking so good.

Soooooo Good to see the Golden Oldies, both still looking well and enjoying life. Thanks so much for showing pics of your much loved Friends. What an amazing jump Shadow has Also, so nice to see that a formerly sad stallion is living the high life as a happy gelding.
Our Oldie is the beloved KARITZI, born with us and will be so, right to the end. At AHS Nationals last year, 25 years young.
 
P.S.Have promised her we will take her again when she is 30

That jump ended up at 4ft 10 that day  & i`ve never jumped that height again since!
WOW Karitzi looks fantastic for her age & isn`t she a beauty!
I was going to keep Shadow with me until the end but hes having so much fun with Sandi & she treats him like a king ...he wants for nothing & i certainly wouldn`t have the time to ride 3 of them !
Poor Tarac is a bit of a stress head but the girl who has owned him for the past 14 yrs had a horse whisperer visit him which cured his loading problem , she told me he used to throw himself on the ramp & after 20 mins the woman had him walking in & out like a pro !
She used to showjump him until last year & he`d jump anything , now hes just ridden lightly bless him !
They will both be shown in Veteran classes again this summer

Yes Linda , Shadow is actually only 13.2hh & i used to jump 3ft 3" & over opens with him ...You`d never get me doing such crazy things now though !
His Sire was a 15hh TB that used to do pony racing around Donegal so thats probably where he got his speed from , before i bought Fantasy i used to show him inhand when they had affiliated Palomino classes in this area & he never disgraced himself ...hes a good little allrounder i guess ! |

Shadow is lovely!!! And still enjoying ridden life at 27 great :)
He doesnt look like 27 years old!!
